<p> LEX HENDERSON MEMORIAL BURSARY</p><p>BURSARY DESCRIPTION This bursary is awarded in memory of Lex Henderson whose legacy in Burnaby schools is found in his commitment and dedication to high school sports and educational leadership. The bursary is awarded to a well-rounded student who, while maintaining a good academic standing, has demonstrated a passion for sports, teamwork, and good citizenship and leadership skills and has actively participated in school and/or community sports. </p><p>ELIGIBILITY To be considered for the award the student should:</p><p>. be passionate about sports and committed to the spirit of “teamwork”. </p><p>. have been involved in school and/or community sports as a player, manager or other contributing role</p><p>. have demonstrated having a positive influence in the school and/or community through dedication and hard work</p><p>. exemplify strong character demonstrating personal responsibility and respect for others</p><p>. demonstrated plans to continue with education in a post secondary program</p><p>. formally submitted a completed application package to the school’s scholarship committee</p><p>The scholarship will be awarded upon proof of registration in a post secondary institution (tuition receipt is required). Priority will be given to applicants who have financial need. The chosen candidate will have up to 5 years to claim the award.</p><p>SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES 1. Two awards in the amount of $750.00 each will be awarded annually to graduates: one award is dedicated to a graduate from Alpha Secondary School and a second award is offered to a graduate from any of the eight Burnaby secondary schools.</p><p>2. A representative from the family will participate in the awards ceremony.</p><p>Attention Burnaby Mountain Students: Re: Reference Letters from Teachers  Please ask the teacher for a pending reference upon you being selected as a candidate and include the name of that teacher with your application. If selected as the candidate for this award, you can then ask the teacher to complete the reference. </p>
