<p> The Case Study of Diri Wado</p><p>Name: Diri Wado</p><p>Occupation: Housewife </p><p>Residence: Hammer District in South Omo Zone, SNNPRS </p><p>Diagnosis: Bilateral Trachomatous Trichiasis </p><p>Facility: Dinmaka Health Center </p><p>Date of treatment: 19/03/2016 </p><p>Diri Wado is a 33 years old woman who lives in Zeleketa village of Hammer district, one of the pastoralist districts of South Omo Zone in the SNNPRS. She is married and has 5 children. </p><p>As most of her villagers do, she used to spend most of her time preparing meal and taking care of her children. She is also one of the active members of her community. However, she couldn’t do what she does best since five years ago. Besides of her vision reduction, the pain was unbearable. The constant whitish discharge was also humiliating to be presentable. </p><p>Diri Before surgery Diri suffered from severe pain in her eyes and developed fear of light for the last 5 years. Because it is common to find women with similar complain in the area, she never tried to seek a medical help. The prevalence of the problem among the women in her village has been high. </p><p>Orbis International Ethiopia expanded its project to South Omo Zone in 2014 in partnership with Amref Africa. Since then, the project involves conducting outreach service to remote sub- districts to carryout cataract and TT surgeries. </p><p>The team during mass screening at Zeleketa village </p><p>On 19th of March 2016, a team combined of cataract surgeon; Integrated Eye Care Worker (IECW); ophthalmic nurse as well as Orbis’s field coordinator came to Zeleketa village for routine screening and found Diri who was severely suffering from TT. After a long convincing discussion, Diri agreed to go to Dinmaka Health Center which is 78 kilometers away from where she lives. out Through a vehicle the team provided, Diri along with other patients were transported to the health center. TT surgery on both of Diri’s eyes was successfully carried out. </p>
