<p>AREA SUPPORT VOLUNTEER - Groups and the Canadian Path Accountable to: Area Commissioner Term: Appointed annually by the Area Commissioner. Time required: 15 to 20 hours per month Scope of Position: The recognized primary point of contact for Group support and program delivery, including mentorship on the Canadian Path. Responsibilities:  Use the tools and resources in Scouts Canada’s Volunteer Support Toolkit to support groups and Scouters in the Area  Coordinate activities and events that connect members (Scouters and youth) together, including but not limited to planning section-specific meetings for Scouters  Support groups with adopting and implementing the Canadian Path  Work with the Area Team Members to provide direct support to Scouting program  Participate in recruiting, orienting, coaching, and mentoring members for Groups in the Area  Be the primary source of contact for members at the Group level, and as such provide accurate and timely information and support on all Scouting events, programs, procedures, and policy changes and ensure that the information gets to the appropriate persons.  Communicate regularly with the Area Commissioner and report all progress and concerns encountered in the Groups.  Encourage the development of sound relationships between the Groups, and Area.  In collaboration with DAC-Recognition, ensure that volunteers are recognized for their contributions, through either the Honours and Awards program or some other form of recognition.  Encourage Scouters to attend Area Scouters’ Club.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Area Commissioner. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will:  Have demonstrated in person and online communication skills  Be a team player  Be able to work effectively with adults and youth  Take initiative to identify opportunities for growth and improvement of Scouting program delivery  Possess time management skills  Have sound skills in problem solving and decision making  Be able to resolve conflict  Be committed to teaching and mentoring on the Canadian Path Demonstrated knowledge of:  Scouting’s Mission  Scouts Canada’s Program Standards  volunteer development and training  availability of program resources, including resources on the Canadian Path </p>
