New York - DC Student Behavior Expectations

New York - DC Student Behavior Contract

Taking students across the country is a responsibility that the teachers involved with this trip take very seriously. Your parents need to feel that they can trust us with the safety of their children. Their trust in us is important. Equally important is our trust in the students we are taking. Explained below are the student behaviors that we expect of students who are going on this trip. You are expected to act as a mature representative of your family, school, and community.

1. Students are expected to meet Eighth Grade Promotion requirements. Responsible students show their maturity all year long. It doesn’t magically appear for this trip. 2. Students are expected to follow directions in the classroom without argument. Directions are given during the trip that MUST be followed. There is no discussion or debate on these directions. If you don’t follow directions in the classroom, how can we expect you to follow our directions? 3. Students will show courtesy to others at all times-other students, teachers, substitutes and parents. You are expected to show courtesy to your chaperones, roommates, bus driver, tour guide, other hotel guests, and people you encounter on the tours. 4. Students will not make racially prejudicial comments about others. You will be seeing and meeting many people of different ethnic backgrounds. You must show respect at all times. 5. Students are expected to use common sense at all times. Your safety will be affected by your ability to think before you do something that could endanger you or someone else. 6. Students are expected to be respectful of things that belong to others. Treating your hotel room, bus, tour spots, and environment in general with respect reflects on the school and the group in general. 7. Students are expected to attend the lunchtime DC meetings with Ms. Amalong. There will be a sign up sheet at each meeting. Be sure to sign in. These meetings are where important information is given and discussed for the trip. If you are going to miss a meeting, you must notify Ms. Amalong the morning of the meeting.

I have read and understand the behavior expectations for this trip. I know that if I do not meet these expectations, I will lose the privilege of going on this trip.

______Student Signature Parent Signature ______Date

The DC trip is not a school function. The decisions are made by Ms. Amalong, Mrs. Haldun, and USA Educational Adventures.
