<p> Falcons Landing Chapter Quarterly Report 1 April – 30 June 2016</p><p>I. Legislative Affairs The chapter legislative affairs lead, Oliver Carter, provided monthly legislative updates from MOAA and VCOC sources to the members of the chapter via email for their review and action.</p><p>III. Public Affairs Chapter submitted package for 2015 Harris Communication Award, which included both the Falcons Flyer (quarterly news) and our monthly legislative report, both of which are key elements of our communications with our members. The chapter received a five star award.</p><p>IV. Levels of Excellence Award Scoring & Chapter Self-Evaluation Status Falcons Landing has submitted for the 2015 award.</p><p>V. Most Significant Chapter Events of the Quarter The chapter conducted a Memorial Day ceremony for the residents of Falcons Landing. The program included the National Anthem, invocations and prayers by our chaplains, a recitation on the meaning of Memorial Day, a special remembrance of fallen comrades and the solemn playing of taps. The conclusion featured a video of the West Point Glee Club singing “mansions of the Lord”. The Falcons Landing chapter continued the Loudoun Veterans and Family Support (LVFS) program, providing financial and general support to Loudoun veterans needing assistance. During the quarter support was provided to several veterans and helping two veterans families to avoid pending eviction.</p><p>The MOAA chapter also hosted a presentation to our community by Mr. Alan Gevinson, curator of the Bob Hope Gallery at The Library of Congress. Mr. Gevinson drew from those resources for a lively presentation on the life of Bob Hope, explaining his roots in vaudeville. It was that development of rapport with audiences and the use of a combination of song, dance and humor that Bob Hope adopted to bring his morale-boosting shows to military in combat, from Europe and the Pacific in WWII, to Korea, to Vietnam and finally to Iraq.
