<p> Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild Impressions 2010 19th Annual Juried Art Exhibition October 31 through November 30, 2010</p><p>CALL FOR ENTRIES – Deadline October 23 </p><p>ELIGIBILITY The IMPRESSIONS 2010 Annual Juried Art Exhibition is open to visual artists working or living in Kentucky and contiguous states. Work must be original and have been completed in the last three years. Artists of any age may participate, however, work by juvenile artists is usually entered in the YOUTHFUL IMPRESSIONS exhibition.</p><p>SPECIFICATIONS All two-dimensional work must be substantially framed, with wire attached for hanging. Three- dimensional work must be capable of being displayed on the gallery’s pedestals, freestanding, or supplied with its own stand. Consult the Guild prior to submitting works that cannot be displayed in the customary manner or if the artwork you intend to submit is unusually large or heavy. Space limitations may prohibit display of very large work.</p><p>ENTRY FORMS & FEES A non-refundable fee of $15.00 for one or two works and $7.00 for each additional work is due at the time of submission. Payment may be made by cash or check payable to ART GUILD. An entry tag must be properly filled out and secured to the back of each entry. The artist must indicate the category in which each work is to compete. The completed Entry Form and entry fees should be submitted when work is delivered to the Art Guild. Forms may be photocopied.</p><p>AWARDS . A $200 cash award will be given for the artwork judged Best of Show. . Awards of $100 for First Place and $50 for Second Place will be given in each of these categories:</p><p>PAINTING MIXED MEDIA (includes FIBER ARTS) PHOTOGRAPHY SCULPTURE DRAWING . Merit awards of cash or gift certificates will also be awarded at the discretion of the juror. The number and amounts of merit awards will be dependent on availability of prize money. . The Darleen Phipps Memorial Award in the amount of $200 will be given in recognition of oil painting realism. . The Laurel Oak Garden Club will give an award of $50 for the Best Botanical Representation.</p><p>JUROR Jennifer Fairbanks was raised in Western Kentucky. In 1994 she received her Bachelor’s degree from Murray State University with an emphasis on painting and ceramics. During this time she also began to pursue training in classical painting techniques with portrait artist Joy Thomas. This interest led her to New York, where she was able to relocate in 1998 through a grant from the Kentucky Arts Council. Jennifer studied figurative and portrait painting with Ron Sherr and Mary Beth McKenzie at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design. In 2003 she received her Master’s degree from New York University in Art Therapy. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows in New York, Kentucky and Spain. After eleven years in New York City, Jennifer decided to return to her hometown of Murray, KY to open a gallery and private studio concentrating on contemporary figurative art with an emphasis on traditional techniques.</p><p>SALES Sales are encouraged. The Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild’s commission is 30% for Art Guild members and 40% for all others. Please include the Guild’s commission in your sale price. Mark ‘NFS’ on works that are not for sale.</p><p>INSURANCE The Art Guild will exercise great care in handling of all works, but cannot insure them or assume any financial liability. Artists should consider obtaining their own insurance coverage.</p><p>AGREEMENT Submission of an entry in the exhibition constitutes an agreement to all conditions set forth in this prospectus. Up to sixty 2-D and ten 3-D works will be selected for display. The total number of pieces displayed is dependent on available gallery space and the size of the works selected. Only entries accepted by the juror will be shown in the exhibition. All awards will be selected at the juror’s discretion. The Art Guild reserves the right to reject any work that is considered objectionable, offensive, or obscene. Artwork must remain for the duration of the exhibit.</p><p>CONTRIBUTORS The Art Guild gratefully acknowledges contributions from area business and individuals for the benefit of this exhibition.
