[email protected] • 844-422-4200</p><p>March 15, 2017 </p><p>We would like to invite students interested in enrolling in a Career/Technical Program for Fall 2017 to apply for the 2017 Horatio Alger Association Career & Technical Scholarship Program. </p><p>Since 1984, the Horatio Alger Association has awarded over $125 million in college scholarships to deserving students. Through nationally recognized educational programs, the Association reaches out directly to our nation’s young people with a message of hope, opportunity, responsibility, and perseverance.</p><p>We are proud to continue providing support for students seeking to pursue career or technical education in a post-secondary environment. This program provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria also include high school completion by spring of 2017, commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical certificate/degree beginning in fall 2017, and United States citizenship. </p><p>The Association will award up to 1020 scholarships in 2017 with a maximum award amount of $2,500 depending on the length and cost of the program. </p><p>We ask that you place the enclosed poster in a prominent location at your school to let students know about the Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship Program. We also hope that you will share this information online through your school website. Students may apply online between March 15 and priority deadline of June 15, 2017. Awarding for applications submitted after June 15 will be based on availability of the scholarships. [email protected] • 844-422-4200</p><p>2017 Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship Application Information</p><p>The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, and strength of character; have financial need; and are committed to pursue a career or technical certificate/degree.</p><p>ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA To be considered eligible for the Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship Program, applicants must: Have completed high school or plan to complete high school by Spring 2017 with plans to enroll at a non-profit post- secondary institution by fall 2017 Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non-profit post- secondary institution in the United States Demonstrate critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA) Demonstrate perseverance in overcoming adversity Be 30 years old or younger Be a United States citizen</p><p>APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS To apply for the Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship Program, the following must be completed by June 15, 2017:  An online application at application.horatioalger.org.  A copy of the full Student Aid Report (SAR). Income documentation must be submitted online.  Documentation showing tuition and fees for school/program of choice.  Proof of citizenship (if not born in the United States).</p>
