Board of Regents: Resolution to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Bexar County Hospital District’s University Health System</p><p>RECOMMENDATION</p><p>It is recommended that the Board approve the following resolution to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Bexar County Hospital District’s University Health System:</p><p>RESOLUTION</p><p>Whereas, For the past half-century, the University Health System has been committed to continuously improving the health and well-being of the people of Bexar County, South Texas, and the world; </p><p>Whereas, The University Health System promotes the good health of the community by providing the highest quality of care to both inpatients and outpatients, by supporting the teaching of the next generation of health professionals and by supporting research thereby advancing medical knowledge and improving the delivery of patient care; </p><p>Whereas, The University Health System, in partnership with The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, has achieved many medical "firsts" for South Texas, including the first heart, lung and heart-lung transplants, as well as the first newborn heart transplant; </p><p>Whereas, The University Health System's University Hospital, the leading civilian trauma center in Bexar County, treats more than 70,000 patients each year, meets the highest national standards, and is designated as a Level-I Trauma Center capable of providing care for the most seriously injured trauma patients;</p><p>Whereas, The University Health System has provided quality health care to millions of patients throughout the years and has consistently been recognized as one of the nation’s best hospitals;</p><p>Whereas, The University Health System Board of Managers and Bexar County Commissioners Court work closely with the leadership of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio on many important health issues in the community; </p><p>11a Whereas, The University Health System has been a valuable partner in health education with The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; and</p><p>Whereas, The University Health System continues to be an indispensable component in creating a healthier future for Texas. </p><p>Therefore, Be It Resolved, That the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System ask that all residents of this state join us in honoring the University Health System and in celebrating the University Health System’s numerous accomplishments and efforts to improve health care in our community throughout the past 50 years.</p><p>11b</p>
