Old Testament Excerpts from the New American Standard Bible

Exodus 17:8 Then Amalek came and fought against Israel at Rephidim. 17:9 So Moses said to Joshua, ""Choose men for us and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will station myself on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.'' 17:13 So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. 17:14 Then the LORD said to Moses, ""Write this in a book as a memorial and recite it to Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven." 17:16 and [Moses] said, ""The LORD has sworn; the LORD will have war ` against Amalek from generation to generation."

23:27 ""I will send My terror ahead of you, and throw into confusion all the people among whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. 23:28 ""I will send hornets ahead of you so that they will drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites before you. 23:29 "" I will not drive them out before you in a single year, that the land may not become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. 23:30 ""I will drive them out before you little by little, until you become fruitful and take possession of the land. 23:31 ""I will fix your boundary from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the River Euphrates; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you will drive them out before you. 23:32 ""You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods. 23:33 ""They shall not live in your land, because they will make you sin against Me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you."

Numbers 25:4 The LORD said to Moses, ""Take all the leaders of the people and execute them in broad daylight before the LORD, so that the fierce anger of the LORD may turn away from Israel." 25:16 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 25:17 ""Be hostile to the Midianites and strike them;

31:1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 31:2 ""Take full vengeance for the sons of Israel on the Midianites; afterward you will be gathered to your people.31:3 Moses spoke to the people, saying, ""Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian to execute the LORD'S vengeance on Midian. Numbers (cont’d.)

31:4 ""A thousand from each tribe of all the tribes of Israel you shall send to the war." 31:5 So there were furnished from the thousands of Israel, a thousand from each tribe, twelve thousand armed for war. 31:6 Moses sent them, a thousand from each tribe, to the war, and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war with them, and the holy vessels andthe trumpets for the alarm in his hand. 31:7 So they made war against Midian, just as the LORD had commanded Moses, and they killed every male. 31:8 They killed the kings of Midian along with the rest of their slain: Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian; they also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword. 31:9 The sons of Israel captured the women of Midian and their little ones; and all their cattle and all their flocks and all their goods they plundered. 31:10 Then they burned all their cities where they lived and all their camps with fire. 31:11 They took all the spoil and all the prey, both of man and of beast. 31:12 They brought the captives and the prey and the spoil to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest and to the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan opposite Jericho. 31:13 Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the congregation went out to meet them outside the camp. 31:14 Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who had come from service in the war. 31:15 And Moses said to them, ""Have you spared all the women? 31:16 ""Behold, these caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, so the plague was among the congregation of the LORD. 31:17 ""Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. 31:18 ""But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves.

Deuteronomy 2:24 "Arise, set out, and pass through the valley of Arnon. Look! I have given Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land into your hand; begin to take possession and contend with him in battle. 2:25 "This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the peoples everywhere under the heavens, who, when they hear the report of you, will tremble and be in anguish because of you.'

3:6 ""We utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women and children of every city. 3:7 ""But all the animals and the spoil of the cities we took as our booty.

Deuteronomy (cont’d.) 3:8 ""Thus we took the land at that time from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of Arnon to Mount Hermon 7:1 ""When the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and stronger than you, 7:2 and when the LORD your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them. 7:3 ""Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons. 7:5 ""But thus you shall do to them: you shall tear down their altars, and smash ttheir sacred pillars, and hew down their Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire. 7:6 ""For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. 7:16 ""You shall consume all the peoples whom the LORD your God will deliver to you; your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you. 7:24 ""He will deliver their kings into your hand so that you will make their name perish from under heaven; no man will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.

9:1 ""Hear, O Israel! You are crossing over the Jordan today to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, great cities fortified to heaven,

13:13 some worthless men have gone out from among you and have seduced the inhabitants of their city, saying, "Let us go and serve other gods' (whom you have not known), 13:14 then you shall investigate and search out and inquire thoroughly. If it is true and the matter established that this abomination has been done among you, 13:15 you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying it and all that is in it and its cattle with the edge of the sword. 13:16 ""Then you shall gather all its booty into the middle of its open square and burn the city and all its booty with fire as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God; and it shall be a ruin forever. It shall never be rebuilt. 13:17 ""Nothing from that which is put under the ban shall cling to your hand, in order that the LORD may turn from His burning anger and show mercy to you, and have compassion on you and make you increase, just as He has sworn to your fathers,

Deuteronomy (cont’d.) 20:10 ""When you approach a city to fight against it, you shall offer it terms of peace. 20:11 ""If it agrees to make peace with you and opens to you, then all the people who are found in it shall become your forced labor and shall serve you. 20:12 ""However, if it does not make peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it. 20:13 ""When the LORD your God gives it into your hand, you shall strike all the men in it with the edge of the sword. 20:14 ""Only the women and the children and the animals and all that is in the city, all its spoil, you shall take as booty for yourself; and you shall use the spoil of your enemies which the LORD your God has given you. 20:15 ""Thus you shall do to all the cities that are very far from you, which are not of the cities of these nations nearby. 20:16 ""Only in the cities of these peoples that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you shall not leave alive anything that breathes. 20:17 ""But you shall utterly destroy them, the Hittite and the Amorite, the Canaanite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, as the LORD your God has commanded you,

Joshua 6:20 So the people shouted, and priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight ahead, and they took the city. 6:21 They utterly destroyed everything in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword. 6:26 Then Joshua made them take an oath at that time, saying, ""Cursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and builds this city Jericho; with the loss of his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he shall set up its gates."

8:18 Then the LORD said to Joshua, ""Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand.'' So Joshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city. 8:19 The men in ambush rose quickly from their place, and when he had stretched out his hand, they ran and entered the city and captured it, and they quickly set the city on fire. 8:24 Now when Israel had finished killing all the inhabitants of Ai in the field in the wilderness where they pursued them, and all of them were fallen by the edge of the sword until they were destroyed, then all Israel returned to Ai and struck it with the edge of the sword. 8:25 All who fell that day, both men and women, were 12,000 all the people of Ai.

Joshua (cont’d.) 10:10 And the LORD confounded them before Israel, and He slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and pursued them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah. 10:19 "but do not stay there yourselves; pursue your enemies and attack them in the rear. Do not allow them to enter their cities, for the LORD your God has delivered them into your hand. 10:20 It came about when Joshua and the sons of Israel had finished slaying them with a very great slaughter, until they were destroyed, and the survivors who remained of them had entered the fortified cities, 10:21 that all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. No one uttered a word against any of the sons of Israel. 10:22 Then Joshua said, ""Open the mouth of the cave and bring these five kings out to me from the cave. " 10:23 They did so, and brought these five kings out to him from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon. 10:24 When they brought these kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who had gone with him, ""Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings.'' So they came near and put their feet on their necks. 10:25 Joshua then said to them, ""Do not fear or be dismayed! Be strong and courageous, for thus the LORD will do to all your enemies with whom you fight.'' 10:26 So afterward Joshua struck them and put them to death, and he hanged them on five trees; and they hung on the trees until evening. 10:28 Now Joshua captured Makkedah on that day, and struck it and its king with the edge of the sword; he utterly destroyed it and every person who was in it. He left no survivor. Thus he did to the king of Makkedah just as he had done to the king of Jericho. 10:30 The LORD gave [Libnah] also with its king into the hands of Israel, and he struck it and every person who was in it with the edge of the sword. He left no survivor in it. Thus he did to its king just as he had done to the king of Jericho. 10:32 The LORD gave Lachish into the hands of Israel; and he captured it on the second day, and struck it and every person who was in it with the edge of the sword, according to all that he had done to Libnah. 10:33 Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish, and Joshua defeated him and his people until he had left him no survivor. 10:34 And Joshua and all Israel with him passed on from Lachish to Eglon, and they camped by it and fought against it. 10:35 They captured it on that day and struck it with the edge of the sword; and he utterly destroyed that day every person who was in it, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

Joshua (cont’d.) 10:36 Then Joshua and all Israel with him went up from Eglon to Hebron, and they fought against it. 10:37 They captured it and struck it and its king and all its cities and all the persons who were in it with the edge of the sword. He left no survivor, according to all that he had done to Eglon. And he utterly destroyed it and every person who was in it. 10:38 Then Joshua and all Israel with him returned to Debir, and they fought against it. 10:39 He captured it and its king and all its cities, and they struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed every person who was in it. He left no survivor. Just as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir and its king, as he had also done to Libnah and its king. 10:40 Thus Joshua struck all the land, the hill country and the Negev and the lowland and the slopes and all their kings. He left no survivor, but he utterly destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded. 10:41 Joshua struck them from Kadesh-barnea even as far as Gaza, and all the country of Goshen even as far as Gibeon.

11:10 Then Joshua turned back at that time, and captured Hazor and struck its king with the sword; for Hazor formerly was the head of all these kingdoms. 11:11 They struck every person who was in it with the edge of the sword, [5] utterly destroying them; there was no one left who breathed. And he burned Hazor with fire. 11:12 Joshua captured all the cities of these kings, and all their kings, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them; just as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded. 11:13 However, Israel did not burn any cities that stood on their mounds, except Hazor alone, which Joshua burned. 11:14 All the spoil of these cities and the cattle, the sons of Israel took as their plunder; but they struck every man with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them. They left no one who breathed. 11:19 There was not a city which made peace with the sons of Israel except the Hivites living in Gibeon; they took them all in battle. 11:20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, to meet Israel in battle in order that he might utterly destroy them, that they might receive no mercy, but that he might destroy them, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Judges 3:1 Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to test Israel by them (that is, all who had not experienced any of the wars of Canaan; 3:2 only in order that the generations of the sons of Israel might be taught war, those who had not experienced it formerly). 3:4 They were for testing Israel, to find out if they would obey the commandments of the LORD, which He had commanded their fathers through Moses. Judges (cont’d.) 3:29 They struck down at that time about ten thousand Moabites, all robust and valiant men; and no one escaped. 3:30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land was undisturbed for eighty years. 3:31 After him came Shamgar the son of Anath, who struck down six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad; and he also saved Israel.

15:7 Samson said to them, ""Since you act like this, I will surely take revenge on you, but after that I will quit.'' 15:8 He struck them ruthlessly with a great slaughter; and he went down and lived in the cleft of the rock of Etam. 15:15 He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, so he reached out and took it and killed a thousand men with it.

16:27 Now the house was full of men and women, and all the lords of the Philistines were there. And about 3,000 men and women were on the roof looking on while Samson was amusing them. 16:28 Then Samson called to the LORD and said, ""O Lord GOD, please remember me and please strengthen me just this time, O God, that I may at once be avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes." 16:29 Samson grasped the two middle pillars on which the house rested, and braced himself against them, the one with his right hand and the other with his left. 16:30 And Samson said, ""Let me die with the Philistines!" And he bent with all his might so that the house fell on the lords and all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he killed in his life.

20:48 The men of Israel then turned back against the sons of Benjamin and struck them with the edge of the sword, both the entire city with the cattle and all that they found; they also set on fire all the cities which they found.

1 Samuel 11:11 The next morning Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp at the morning watch and struck down the Ammonites until the heat of the day. Those who survived were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.

15:1 Then Samuel said to Saul, ""The LORD sent me to anoint you as king over His people, over Israel; now therefore, listen to the words of the LORD. 15:2 ""Thus says the LORD of hosts, "I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he set himself against him on the way while he was coming up from Egypt. 15:3 "Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey. ""

1 Samuel (cont’d.) 15:4 Then Saul summoned the people and numbered them in Telaim, 200,000 foot soldiers and 10,000 men of Judah. 15:5 Saul came to the city of Amalek and set an ambush in the valley. 15:6 Saul said to the Kenites, ""Go, depart, go down from among the Amalekites, so that I do not destroy you with them; for you showed kindness to all the sons of Israel when they came up from Egypt.'' So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. 15:7 So Saul defeated the Amalekites, from Havilah as you go to Shur, which is east of Egypt. 15:8 He captured Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. 15:9 But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were not willing to destroy them utterly; but everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed. 15:10 Then the word of the LORD came to Samuel, saying, 15:11 ""I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me and has not carried out My commands." And Samuel was distressed and cried out to the LORD all night.

17:45 Then David said to the Philistine, ""You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. 17:46 ""This day the LORD will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. Then he returned and came to Achish. 27:10 Now Achish said, ""Where have you made a raid today?'' And David said, ""Against the Negev of Judah and against the Negev of the Jerahmeelites and against the Negev of the Kenites.'' 27:11 David did not leave a man or a woman alive to bring to Gath, saying, ""Otherwise they will tell about us, saying, "So has David done and so has been his practice all the time he has lived in the country of the Philistines.'''

2 Samuel

7:22 ""For this reason You are great, O Lord GOD; for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 7:23 ""And what one nation on the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people and to make a name for Himself, and to do a great

1 Samuel (cont’d.) thing for You and awesome things for Your land, before Your people whom You have redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, from nations and their gods?

22:32 ""For who is God, besides the LORD? (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right—(For no cause) except that they say, ‘Our Lord Is Allah.’ Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid for His (cause)—for verily Allah is Full of Strength, exalted in Might, (Able to enforce His Will.)” (22:39-40)

Fighting in the cause of God: “Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; But fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.” (2:190-191)

“Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day ask thee for no exemption from fighting with their goods and persons. And Allah knoweth well those who do their duty.” (9:44)

“Go ye forth, (whether equipped) lightly or heavily, and strive and struggle, with your goods and your persons, in the cause of Allah. That is best for you, if ye (but) knew.” (9:41)

“Fighting is prescribed upon you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth and ye know not.” (2:216)

“They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say: Fighting therein is a grave (offense) but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members. Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; They will be Companions of the Fire and will abide therein.” (2:217) “Those who believed and those who suffered exile and fought (and strove and struggled) in the path of Allah—They have the hope of the Mercy of Allah; and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (2:218)

“Hast thou not turned thy vision to the Chiefs of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Moses? They said to a Prophet (that was) among them: ‘Appoint for us a King, that we may fight in the cause of Allah.’ He said: ‘Is it not possible, if ye were commanded to fight, that ye will not fight?’ They said: ‘How could we refuse to fight in the cause of Allah, seeing that we were turned out of our homes and our families?’ But when they were commanded to fight, they turned back, except a small band among them. But Allah has full knowledge of those who do wrong.” (2:246)

“Did ye think that ye would enter Heaven without Allah testing those of you who fought hard (in His cause) and remained steadfast?” (3:142)

“How many of the Prophets fought (in Allah’s way). And with them (fought) large bands of godly men? But they never lost heart if they met with disaster in Allah’s way, nor did they weaken (in will) nor give in. And Allah loves those who are firm and steadfast.” (3:146)

“Let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah- whether he is slain or gets victory—soon shall we give him a reward of great (value).” (4:74)

“And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill- treated (and oppressed)?—men, women, and children, who cry is: ‘Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors and raise for us from Thee one who will protect; and raise for us from Thee one who will help!” (4:75)

“Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith fight in the cause of Evil: so fight ye against the friends of Satan: the feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.” (4:76)

“Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; at length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah’s will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); But (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the way of Allah He will never let their deeds be lost.” (47:4)

Fighting against odds: “O Prophet! Rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: for these area people without understanding.” (8:65)

Fighting and the fainthearted: “Those who believe say, ‘Why is not a Surah sent down (for us)?’ But when a Surah of basic or categorical meaning is revealed, and fighting is mentioned therein, thou wilt see those in whose heart is a disease looking at thee with a look for one in swoon at the approach of death. But more fitting for them.” (47:20)

Exemptions from fighting: “No blame is there on the blind, nor is there blame on the lame, nor on one ill (if he joins not the war): But he that obeys God and his Apostle,- (God) will admit him to Gardens beneath which rivers flow; and he who turns back, (God) will punish him with a grievous Penalty.” (48:17)

Striving in the cause of God: “But verily thy Lord,- to those who leave their homes after trials and persecutions,- and who thereafter strive and fight for the faith and patiently persevere,- Thy Lord, after all this is oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.” (16:110)

“And those who strive in Our (cause),- We will certainly guide them to our Paths: For verily Allah is with those who do right.” (29:69)

“Only those are Believers who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and have never since doubted, but have striven with their belongings and their persons in the Cause of Allah: Such are the sincere ones.” (49:15)

“That ye believe in Allah and His Messenger, and that ye strive (your utmost) in the Cause of Allah, with your property and your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew!” (61:11) Killing: “Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah. for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom.” (4:92) “If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein (For ever): And the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him.” (4:93) “On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.” (5:32) “O ye who believe! Kill not game while in the sacred precincts or in pilgrim garb. If any of you doth so intentionally, the compensation is an offering, brought to the Ka'ba, of a domestic animal equivalent to the one he killed, as adjudged by two just men among you; or by way of atonement, the feeding of the indigent; or its equivalent in fasts: that he may taste of the penalty of his deed. Allah forgives what is past: for repetition Allah will exact from him the penalty. For Allah is Exalted, and Lord of Retribution.” (5:95) “Then they proceeded: until, when they met a young man, he slew him. Moses said: ‘Hast thou slain an innocent person who had slain none? Truly a foul (unheard of) thing hast thou done!’” (18:74) “Lost are those who slay their children, from folly, without knowledge, and forbid food which Allah hath provided for them, inventing (lies) against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and heeded no guidance.” (6:140) “"If thou dost stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I do fear Allah, the cherisher of the worlds.” (5:28) “Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him nor exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law).” (17:33) xxxxxx

Bible is with modern beliefs and customs.
