Chancellor Drummond to Leave System Office to Head Los Angeles Community College District

<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Njeri Griffin 916-445-8508 [email protected]</p><p>April 28, 2009</p><p>2009 Classified Employee of the Year Award Recipients Announced</p><p>SACRAMENTO – Five classified employees from across California have been honored as California Community College Classified Employees of the Year. The recipients were announced by Lance Izumi, President of the Board of Governors for the California Community Colleges, Paul Lanning, President and CEO of the Foundation for California Community Colleges, and Chancellor Jack Scott. The award honors classified employees who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to professionalism and community colleges. </p><p>“The recipients are not only outstanding in their professional activities, but also have impressive records of participating on their campuses and beyond,” said Chancellor Scott.</p><p>This year’s recipients are:  Teresa Aronson, Yuba Community College District  Lori Bonilla, State Center Community College District  Barbara Daley, San Mateo County Community College District  Connie Litz, Feather River Community College District  Wesley J. Page, Yosemite Community College District</p><p>To be considered for the award, classified employees must be nominated by members of their college/district community and endorsed by their local Board of Trustees. The statewide selection committee includes representatives of the Board of Governors for California Community Colleges, the Chancellor’s Office, and the Foundation for California Community Colleges. Award recipients receive a $500 cash award and a commemorative plaque. The award is supported through a grant from the Foundation for California Community Colleges.</p><p>The California Community Colleges is the largest higher education system in the nation comprised of 72 districts and 110 colleges with more than 2.7 million students per year. Community colleges supply workforce training and basic skills education, prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions and offer opportunities for personal enrichment and lifelong learning. The System Office provides leadership, advocacy and support under the direction of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges.
