Freedom of Religion (or establishment of religion) - free exercise of religion, establishment clause</p><p> b. Freedom of Speech</p><p> c. Freedom of the Press</p><p> d. Right to peacefully assemble (example: Occupy Wall Street protesters → they have the right to assemble as long as they are not violent)</p><p> e. Right to petition the government petition: signed piece of paper by a group </p><p>2. Second Amendment  Right to Keep and Bear Arms (example: you are allowed to own a weapon with a permit)</p><p>3. Third Amendment  Freedom from having soldiers quartered in your home during peace time without consent quartered: to provide living accommodations</p><p>4. Fourth Amendment  Freedom from unreasonable search and seizure (example: If Mr. Wakeman was told that you were texting during social studies by two different teachers, he has the right to search your backpack. Your parents have also signed a code of conduct, which allows him to do so if there is reason.)</p><p>5. Fifth Amendment a. Right to a grand jury</p><p> b. Freedom from being tried for the same crime twice (Double Jeopardy) (example: Sarah is charged for shoplifting from American Eagle and found not guilty in court. She cannot be tried for the same crime twice.)</p><p> c. Freedom from being forced to testify against yourself (right to remain silent)</p><p> d. Right to due process of law (procedures to enforce law must be fair/reasonable) </p><p> e. Right to have fair payment for land taken for government use (eminent domain) PRACTICE!</p><p>1. Mrs. Jones hears a knock at the door. She opens the door and finds 3 police officers asking if they can come into her home to talk about neighborhood safety. She is very friendly and so she says yes. While sitting in the living room one of the officers sees a bomb under the sofa and gets up to get it.
