<p> Grant Case Study</p><p>CASE STUDY TITLE: Time Lines and Signage for Museum of Technology </p><p>ORGANISATION NAME: Museum of Technology the History of Gadgets and Gizmos</p><p>PROJECT LEAD NAME: Rosie Hourihane EMAIL ADDRESS: [email protected] Twitter handle (if applicable):</p><p>An overview of the museum’s project: (Approx 200 words) As a new museum we needed to promote the proximity of the museum by means of signage. The front of the building required a very large weather proof sign which incorporated our logo, and signs which pointed visitors to the site. A disabled sign was needed to show where the smooth path was for wheelchair users. Along with all the outside signage, the new cabinets needed headings to explain the contents and a time line which explained the date of manufacture, there were 13 in all. All the signage and headings were achieved before the museum opened in August 2016. </p><p>What work did the grant enable you to undertake: I was able to instruct our local sign writer exactly what was needed, he came on site and measured the space for the headings and advised us on sizes for the outside signs. He also arranged to fit the large weather proof sign to the front of the building. The array of colours for the headings was great and we decided on an industrial steel colour which fits in with our collection. </p><p>Lesson’s learned from the project:</p><p>There’s help out there from MDEM</p><p>CIaire, Sarah and Angie were all very helpful when it came to filling in the application form. They gave me the confidence to apply for small grants in the future. </p><p>But the main lesson learned was to add VAT to the amount asked for in future. Impact made:</p><p>The museum has been put on the map with great signage, and the overhead cabinet headings help our visitors to see the dates and descriptions of the artefacts.
