<p>Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, I’m taking part in the Virgin Money London Marathon 2015 in support of Farm Africa; a different kind of charity working to end hunger and bring prosperity to rural Africa</p><p>Hunger kills more people worldwide than tuberculosis, Malaria and AIDS combined, a statistic I found quite shocking. </p><p>Farm Africa’s work is not about short-term food aid or quick-fix solutions. It’s about working on the ground to help Africa’s families feed themselves, for the long term. </p><p>Farm Africa’s local staff provide the tools and expertise to enable smallholders in eastern Africa to increase their harvests, whether they farm crops, livestock, fish or the forest. They train them to be more commercial, adding value to surpluses by milling, drying, or turning their produce into products that fetch a higher price. </p><p>With better food for their families and reliable incomes from their businesses, farmers can build for the future. </p><p>£15 could help provide tools to grow food on sun-baked land – giving African farmers and their families the chance to feed themselves. </p><p>£30 could help a farmer sow an acre of land with high-quality seeds for crops that survive even in the driest conditions.</p><p>£60 could help provide farmers with fruit tree saplings so they have nutritious fruit to feed their children.</p><p>£100 could help train a group of farmers in new techniques to help their crops thrive.</p><p>£120 could help teach a farmer more efficient cultivation methods. </p><p>If my challenge has inspired you, then please donate to my page, any amount is really appreciated.
