<p>May 3, 2016</p><p>Dear HONORS STEM STUDENT,</p><p>We are very excited about the upcoming school year and the new discoveries you will make along the way. STEM is an exciting opportunity for you to explore many applications of Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology. </p><p>You have been selected for this course, because of your interest in pursuing the study of STEM and your consideration of STEM as a career goal. You also have acquired the reputation of being an exceptional problem-solver and have been recommended for this course. </p><p>The HONORS STEM Summer Work can be satisfied by either of the following:</p><p>Option I – Attend a STEM-related Summer Program. Bring any handouts, certificates, photos (preferably in digital form), and artifacts, and be prepared to give a presentation to the class about your experiences.</p><p>Option II - Interview a STEM Professional and create a “STEM Spotlight,” using the template provided on the teacher websites. You can spotlight the individual or the industry. Examples can be found at the following links: http://www.westtnstem.org/students/STEMspotlights</p><p>Submit your completed “STEM Spotlight” to [email protected]. Also, include written permission from the featured professional to be posted on the West TN STEM Hub website. (These documents will be added to the West Tennessee STEM Website, so be sure that the person you interview is aware of this and has given you written permission to do so.) Email us in June, if you need help finding a STEM professional. We have many resources and can help connect you to someone working in an area of interest to you. Be prepared to present it to the class. </p><p>We have included our email addresses below in case you have any problems or questions. We will try to check it at least weekly during the summer months.</p><p>We wish you the best, as you prepare for an exciting and challenging 2016-17 school year and we look forward to seeing you in August!
