<p> 2016 Thunder Wolf Merit Badge Day Class Information (Rev 8/4/16)</p><p>Notes for Merit Badges The following are notes for merit badges taught at the 2016 Thunder Wolf Merit Badge Day. Additional information and prerequisites may be distributed by individual counselors prior to MB Day so please include current email addresses on all scouts when using the Meritbadge.info registration site.</p><p>Citizen in Nation MB Read Merit Badge Book. Partial without requirement 2,3, and 8.</p><p>Communications MB</p><p>These requirements should be done in advance or the badge will be incomplete. Req.#4 - Interview someone you know fairly well, like, or respect because of his or her position, talent, career or life experiences. Listen actively to learn as much as you can about the person. Then prepare and deliver to your counselor an introduction of the person as though this person were to be a guest speaker, and include reasons why the audience would want to hear this person speak. Show how you would call to invite this person to speak. Req. #8 -Plan a troop or crew court of honor, campfire program, or an interfaith worship service. Have the patrol leaders' council approve it, then write the script and prepare the program. Serve as master of ceremonies.</p><p>Fingerprinting MB Read MB Book</p><p>Inventing MB Read MB book. If possible visit a museum as per the MB Booklet req. #8 and create a presentation of your visit to share. Also scouts may bring models of their invention ideas that they show in class. Scout should try to identify a need someone has or a technical problem in their home, school, or community. For example, one boy’s father’s cell phone went dead while camping far from a charger. The boy came to class with his invention: a solar charger he built with parts he got from the Dollar store plus Radio Shack! Another boy made his mom a secure water bottle holder with a cooling sprayer for her bicycle. </p><p>Family Life MB Read MB Book. Partial without req. 3,4,5,6b</p><p>Cooking MB Bring to class the 2016 revised Cooking Merit Badge pamphlet. </p><p>Requirements covered in class are: Page 1 2016 Thunder Wolf Merit Badge Day Class Information (Rev 8/4/16) 1a-e 2a-e 3a-c 4a-b 5a-c 6a-c 7 (This is a goal, actual requirements completed will depend on the overall class participation and how well they work)</p><p>Requirements not covered in class are: 4c-e 5d-h 6d-f. </p><p>Personal Management MB Read MB Book. Partial as this is a learning event. No requirements will be signed off in class (Mr. Acker). Students will need to make arrangements with instructor to sign off on requirements (Mr. Acker).</p><p>Nuclear Science MB Recommended for more First Class scouts and above. Read MB Book. Possibility of completion but be prepared to meet later with Merit Badge Instructors.</p><p>Engineering MB Read MB Book</p><p>Photography MB Read the MB book and come with a camera that they know how to operate. (No camera phones or iPad cameras) a simple point and shoot or SLR is fine. Upon completion of class, scout will need to complete 4a or 4b in the Photography MB workbook to complete the MB.</p><p>Stem NOVA SHOOT To complete NOVA award scout must complete a corresponding MB for each award. Visit http://www.scouting.org/stem/Awards/BoyScouts.aspx for requirements. Scouts must stay for video presentation during lunch to complete award.</p><p>Radio MB Read the merit badge Book. Prepare their materials for Requirement 8 and bring them to class for discussion. Bring paper and pen or pencil.</p><p>Page 2 2016 Thunder Wolf Merit Badge Day Class Information (Rev 8/4/16) Personal Fitness MB Partial w/o requirements 1, 7, 8. The 12 week training program will be needed to complete the merit badge. </p><p>Weather MB Read the merit badge pamphlet and prepare 6 (draw and label water cycle diagram and prepare to discuss in class), prepare at least a 5 minute talk for 10a OR 10b, bring outline of talk to discuss with counselor and be prepared to deliver the talk, and prepare for requirement 11 and be ready to discuss with counselor.</p><p>Chess MB Read MB Book. </p><p>Veterinary Medicine MB Read the merit badge pamphlet.</p><p>Geology MB Read the merit badge pamphlet. Partial.</p><p>Digital Technology MB 1. Complete all requirements (Age and Grade Specific) for Cyber Chip and Read MB Pamphlet 2. Bring a Laptop or Tablet to access the internet and other resources for successful completion of the Merit Badge 3. Download the Worksheet (http://www.usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Digital-Technology.pdf), print and review before class</p><p>Programming MB 1. Complete all requirements (Age and Grade Specific) for Cyber Chip and Read MB Pamphlet 2.
