<p> RECYCLING/REFUSE INFORMATION</p><p>The Village of Winnebago has one waste hauler, Gill’s Freeport Disposal, for the Village. Each residence will be charged $13.00 per month on their water bill. Billing will not be stopped unless the resident has their water turned off by request.</p><p>1. Pickup will be every Tuesday. Gill’s begins picking up refuse at 6:00 a.m. If there is a holiday on Monday or Tuesday, pickup will be one day later than normal.</p><p>2. Each residence is allowed unlimited garbage pickup. Limits: must not be more than 33 gallons per container and not weigh more than 50 pounds.</p><p>3. One recycle bin was initially provided for each existing home for recycling material. One recycle bin will be provided for each newly constructed home. A separate list is enclosed of items that can be recycled. If you need additional bins, they can be purchased at the Village Office for $10.00 each or additional recycling items can be put in a paper grocery bag and placed next to the recycling bin. If you move, please leave the bin provided with the residence. If the bin is missing when the new person moves in, they will be charged $10.00 for the replacement bin.</p><p>4. Recycling is not mandatory but could save residents money every week by decreasing the amount of refuse to be picked up. Sorting of recycling items other than paper products is not necessary. All containers to be recycled need to be rinsed but labels do not have to be removed. Newspapers, magazines and other paper items must be bundled separately with string or placed in a paper bag. Any items left in your bin after pickup will be classified as non-recyclable and will need to be placed in your garbage the following week.</p><p>5. Any items not enclosed in a bag or trashcan will be left by the driver. Please do not leave any items except bundled newspapers or additional recycling items outside of your receptacles expecting Gills to pick it up. Everything must be enclosed in a trash bag or trashcan. </p><p>6. Yard waste needs to be placed in a trashcan marked with an “X” or in a paper bag. Yard waste consists of leaves and grass clippings only. Yard waste and trash can’t be mixed together. The Village will pick up Christmas Trees. Just call the Village Office at 815 335-2020 and request that a work order be given to the Maintenance Department. </p><p>7. 2 -Large household items will be picked up weekly with the normal waste. Large items for pickup include furniture, appliances, mattresses, hot water heaters, etc. Bulk garbage is not considered a large item. Remodeling material such as carpet, doors, windows, sinks, toilets, etc. are not considered large household items. Please call Gills Disposal for pick up instructions and the cost related to removing these items at (815) 233-5644. Carpet must be cut into 4 foot sections, there is an extra charge, must call for pick up Information. 8. All types of styrofoam and waxed paper are not accepted by the recycling center at this time. Please dispose of these items with your regular garbage. All paper products and cardboard should be bundled/bagged together, separate from the rest of the recyclables.
