<p>Number & Title of Course: ARPL722, Practice Management, 3 credits.</p><p>Course Description: Explores effective management of architectural projects, practices and careers -- marketing, finance and accounting, staffing, law, organizational structure, professional development, risk management, negotiation, standard contracts.</p><p>Course Goals & Objectives (list): The purposes or goals of the course are to:  Convey the core issues involved in the business of providing architectural services, as well as the history of the profession and its context in the real estate industry.  Introduce students to the idea of best practices and give them a reason to avoid poor practice (through participation in a moot court).  Introduce students to the profession and the value of its institutions for networking  Make sure that all students understand the Intern Development Program. At the conclusion of the course, students will understand…  The issues underlying what they will likely observe and experience during architectural internship  The need and basic techniques for managing themselves, their time, and their capital.  Professional ethics, and when and how to apply them appropriately.  Risk, its value and its management.  The possible career options and paths open to them and the relative merits of each.</p><p>Student Performance Criterion/a addressed (list number and title): B.7.
