<p> AGRICULTURAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR</p><p>Polk County is seeking to hire an Agricultural Economic Development Director (AEDD). This position will develop and promote programs to enhance the productivity, economic vitality and sustainability of the county’s agriculture industry and businesses. They will work with individual farmers and land owners as well as organizations and outside consultants and will serve as advisor to the Board of Commissioners, County Manager, and others as requested on agricultural economic policies and plan. They will be responsible for seeking, applying for and administering grants to support the goals of the agricultural economic development plan. They will manage the AED office budgets, policies, and procedures. Master’s Degree, preferred (Bachelor’s Degree considered) in agriculture, marketing, business management, public policy or a closely related field; or equivalent occupational experience, with significant related experience in agriculture and marketing. A minimum of three years related experience in agricultural development, agribusiness, or agritourism plus knowledge of local, state and federal policies and programs affecting agriculture are preferred.
