<p>Determining the slope of a line, with two identified points, using the </p><p>STAT mode of the Graphing Calculator</p><p>EXAMPLE: (3,7) (4,5) These points will be used to determine the Slope of the line. In the Main Menu Select STAT by pressing </p><p>Enter the ordered pairs using the key strokes below.</p><p>3l4l$7l5l</p><p>On your screen you should see</p><p>Type qu so you can insure the graph is producing the correct output. Be sure the calculator has the following settings. </p><p>Now type the following commands to show the values for the line of best fit. dqqw</p><p>Your screen should show the following:</p><p>This screen depicts the equation of the line for the two points used in this example, (3,7) and (4,5).</p><p>The Equation is y= mx + b or as shown here y = ax + b . Thus a is your slope.</p><p>So the slope of the line that goes through (3,7) and (4,5) is -2. </p>
