Explain the War on Poverty (mid 1960’s), its purpose, whether the war was primarily focused on curative, preventative, or alleviative strategies for dealing with poverty. 8. Explain the purpose of the Economic Development Act (EDA) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs begun in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Explain the Manpower Development and Training Act (MDTA) begun during the 1960’s. What was the focus of these programs: area or case poverty? What happened to these programs during succeeding political administrations? 9. Was the War on Poverty successful in its intended mission? Explain. 10. List some of the programs created during the War on Poverty era that remain to this day. What about these programs have kept them around to this day?</p>
