Making Data Tables

Directions: Make 4 data tables of the information below. Use your checklist to make sure you have all the points needed in each table. Please write the tables in your science notebook.

Investigation #1: A seed was planted. As the plant grew, it was measured over a six-day period.

Day one – 0 centimeters (cm), day two – 2 cm, day three – 5 cm, day four – 7 cm, day five – 8 cm, day six – 10 cm

Investigation #2: Tomato plants were grown at various temperatures. The number of tomatoes that grew on each plant was counted.

8* Celsius © – 4 tomatoes, 12*C – 10 tomatoes, 16* C – 14 tomatoes, 18*C – 18 tomatoes, 22*C – 24 tomatoes, 24*C – 16 tomatoes

Investigation #3: Different types of balls were bounced from a table top. The height of each bounce was measured.

Golf ball – 54 centimeters (cm), baseball – 9 cm, tennis ball – 48 cm, pin pong ball – 21 cm, Styrofoam ball – 3 cm

Investigation #4: A student investigated and recorded how the amount of study time affected the scores on a science test.

0 hours – 58 points, 1 hour – 66 points, 2 hours – 82 points, 3 hours – 84 points, 4 hours – 88 points, 5 hours – 90 points, 6 hours – 88 points

Checklist of Items Needed for a Data Table Does your data table have…?

Data table reflects accurate data

Column and rows accurately labeled with trials

Units of measure are written where needed.

Variables are highlighted or labeled MV RV

Average column is on the far right (when there are more than one trial)

Checklist of Items Needed for a Data Table

Does your data table have…?

Data table reflects accurate data

Column and rows accurately labeled with trials

Units of measure are written where needed.

Variables are highlighted or labeled MV RV

Average column is on the far right (when there are more than one trial)

Checklist of Items Needed for a Data Table

Does your data table have…?

Data table reflects accurate data

Column and rows accurately labeled with trials

Units of measure are written where needed. Variables are highlighted or labeled MV RV

Average column is on the far right (when there are more than one trial)
