<p>Pick an application domain or mini-world that interests you. It can be a hobby, a personal interest, or something similar. The employee/company and orders databases used in lectures and labs are not acceptable. It should be reasonably substantial, but do not make it too big. On an ER diagram, there should be 4-8 entity types and a similar number of relationships. In general you should have at least one 1:1, 1: N and M: N relationship between entity types. In some cases, you may not have both 1:1 and 1: N relationships naturally. That is acceptable as long as you have at least one M: N relationship and at least one either 1:1 or 1: N relationship. You should include several data types: integer and/or reals, character strings. You need at least one date data type and at least one derived attribute. Write a description of your mini-world. 2-3 pages should be sufficient. Remember you are explaining your application area to me. I can read ER diagrams so you need not explain things that are obvious from the diagram. It may be helpful to describe some of the interactions or queries you have in mind. Create an entity-relationship diagram of your mini-world. It must be neat and well organized.
