
<p> Application Form</p><p>All-Ireland Cancer Consortium</p><p>NCI Summer Curriculum in Cancer Prevention 2015</p><p>Background: The Al-Ireland Cancer Consortium aims to provide world-class cancer care to people on the island of Ireland and, to this end, participates in a range of educational programmes. As part of the 2015 Consortium activities, the Health Research Board, in association with the National Cancer Institute in the US and the HSC R&D Office in Northern Ireland, invites applications for the prestigious NCI Summer Curriculum in Cancer Prevention programme.</p><p>Available Courses: Principles and Practice of Cancer Prevention and Control. This four-week summer course provides specialized instruction in the principles and practice of cancer prevention and control. It focuses on concepts, issues, and applications related to this field. Participants will gain a broad-based perspective in terms of available resources, and scientific data. For an overview of course offerings, please see the 2014 Principles Course syllabus. </p><p> Molecular Prevention. This one-week course on molecular aspects of cancer prevention provides a strong background in molecular biology and genetics of cancer and an overview of basic laboratory approaches applied to cutting-edge research in the fields of molecular epidemiology, chemoprevention, biomarkers, and translational research. For the most recent course offerings, please see the 2014 Molecular Course syllabus.</p><p>Eligible Applicants: Applications are invited from health-related researchers and practitioners working in the Republic of Ireland who have an interest in cancer prevention and control. Applicants can apply for one or both of these courses.</p><p>Course Dates and Location: Principles and Practice of Cancer Prevention and Control will run from 6 to 31 July 2015. Molecular Prevention will run from 3 - 7 August 2015. Both courses take place at the National Cancer Institute, Rockville, Maryland, US. Cost: The National Cancer Institute provides these courses free of charge for participants from Ireland. Successful applicants will have a return economy flight to the US, accommodation costs and a small per diem paid by the Health Research Board.
