Premier’s be active Challenge Lap – a – thon

How do you have a school fund-raiser and at the same time involve students in the Premier’s be active Challenge? Well, have a lap-a-thon.

Once sponsorship forms are distributed and the lap-a-thon day is set, students can start training for the day by running, jogging and walking. Students can start recording their activity in their be active Challenge diary.

Students at Seaford Rise Primary during term 2 trained in preparation for the lap-a-thon. During school time and after school many students trained for their district SAPSASA Cross Country event.

Some classes currently are jogging their way to China. On a map inside the classroom, as a combined total, student’s record and mark the distance they have travelled. Their aim is to run to China before the Olympics begin in August.

With all these incentives, the students have had a real purpose in doing their daily fitness activities, which not only benefits the school community with fund raising but also allows the classes to work as a group to achieve a specific goal.

Finally to open the lap-a-thon why not invite a Premier’s be active Challenge Ambassador to attend the special day and join in with the fun run.

Seaford Rise invited Mark Soderstrom to open the day. Mark spoke extremely well to students and parents about the need to keep fit and healthy by being active and eating a healthy diet.

An extra to the day is invite parents and caregivers to run along with the students.

If you need any details regarding how to run your own school’s Lap-a-thon please contact Seaford Rise Primary.

Peter Senyezyn Teacher, Seaford Rise Primary Parents joining in with students

Mark at Opening Ceremony
