<p> Florida State University Faculty Member Receives State Achievement Award</p><p>Media Release</p><p>For Immediate Release September 15, 2012</p><p>Florida State University Faculty Member, Donna Trafford Receives State Achievement Award</p><p>The Florida Recreation and Park Association presents its Achievement Award annually to an individual who has given special or unusual service to the Association, and who has furthered the parks and recreation profession on a state and national level. The recipient must have been a member of the Association and been in the field for no less than five years. </p><p>The awards candidates are nominated by their peers, and must maintain a professional image in their community, in their agency and among their peers. The 2012 Award Recipient was Donna Trafford, who has over twenty-five years of experience in the field of parks and recreation in the State of Florida. In addition to her contributions to the field of parks and recreation, her community involvement qualified her for this award. </p><p>FRPA Executive Director Eleanor Warmack said, “Donna Trafford was selected to receive the Association’s prestigious Achievement Award because of her extraordinary contributions to advancing the field of parks and recreation. She has a passion for providing quality of life in communities through the State of Florida, and is leaving a legacy through each student she reaches in her classroom.”</p><p>FRPA Awards Committee Chair Don Decker commented “Donna Trafford has not only served the parks and recreation field as an able practitioner, but she how supports the field by preparing students who will be our next leaders. Her influence as a role model and mentor is evident throughout South Florida where her former employees have risen to leadership positions in agencies around the region. It is an honor to recognize her dedication and service to the Florida Recreation and Park Association.”</p><p>The honor was presented on August 31, 2012 at the Association’s Awards Ceremony.</p>
