<p> Contact: Andrea Clifford Public Information Officer (502) 210-5403 - office (502) 262-0777 – cell</p><p>Milton-Madison Bridge to Reopen</p><p>Louisville, KY (May 12, 2012) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) bridge engineers have completed their inspection today of the Milton-Madison Bridge on US 421 over the Ohio River. The bridge was closed late Friday evening by law enforcement on both sides of the river after calls regarding safety concerns on the bridge were received through the Madison, IN 911 system. </p><p>The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet sent a bridge engineer to review the structure last night. An initial review did not show anything out of the ordinary. A full team of KYTC bridge engineers inspected the Milton-Madison Bridge today and did not find any evidence to substantiate the concerns expressed in the 911 calls. The engineers have recommended re- opening the bridge at the posted 3-ton weight limit.</p><p>Traffic control devices are being removed from the Milton-Madison Bridge and the roadway should be reopened to traffic by 2:00 p.m.</p><p>Dial 511 or log on to 511.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. </p><p>-##-</p>
