Pe & Sport Premium for Primary Schools

PE & SPORT PREMIUM FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS 2016 – 17 Report

During 2016 - 2017, we will receive a total of £9765 at Hatfield in respect of PE & Sports Premium for Primary Schools.

Hatfield Academy

The funding will be used to provide a v a r i e d a n d e x c i t i n g P . E . curriculum for our pupils. Part of our funding will go towards the salary of our newly appointed specialist P.E. teacher, who is teaching P.E. across the school, as well as running after school clubs and P.E. enrichment activities. As a school we have subscribed to the Arches School Sports Partnership. This will offer staff the chance to take part in CPD in a range of activities such as rugby, physical literacy, football and a range of other sports. It will also provide pupils the chance to take part in a range of competitive sports to increase their teamwork skills and understanding of a range of activities. Additional funding has been allocated for the cost of transport to and from sports competitions and sports kits for teams within school. The school has also paid for Year 4 pupils to take part in swimming lessons, in line with National Curriculum expectations.

Impact on children

During 2015 – 2016 pupils were given the opportunity to experience a range of sports, both in lessons and outside of lessons and we plan to build on this throughout the year. The P.E. curriculum has been adapted to monitor and track pupils fitness levels, and lessons will be taught in line with this data.

Last year as a school over 300 pupils took part in after school clubs in a range of sports such as cheerleading, dance, futsal, tri-golf and athletics and over 50 pupils represented the school in competitive sport this year in sports such as Boccia and Cricket. This year we aim to increase the number of pupils taking part in after school clubs, through targeting specific pupil groups such as pupil premium and SEND pupils.

As part of the Arches leadership programme twenty sports leaders have been nominated and trained to enable them to run lunchtime and after school activities, leading to a greater degree of independence for pupils.
