<p> Malden Public Schools March-June Workshop Offering</p><p>Rethinking Equity and Teaching for English Language Learners (RETELL) http://www.doe.mass.edu/retell/2012-1207SEIendorse.html </p><p>Purpose: Provide participants the opportunity to obtain the SEI endorsement certificate required by MA DESE. Participants will be able to implement strategies for delivering rigorous content area instruction for English language learners using WIDA, Common Core and district curriculum. Federal and Massachusetts’ laws and regulations pertaining to English language learners will be addressed.</p><p>Audience: All K-12 content area teachers and administrators in the Malden Public Schools.</p><p>Description: “Core academic teachers” who teach English Language Learners (ELLs) will soon be required to obtain a Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher Endorsement under the state’s Rethinking Equity and Teaching for English Language Learners (RETELL) initiative.1 The impact of this requirement is a mandatory subject of bargaining.
