RENEWABLE ENERGY

1. Is important but not to the detriment of the countryside or people’s lives

2. Wind power and PV cells are not viable. They are only attractive because of over generous FIT paid for by tax on residents fuel bills

3. No windmills

4. Important however it depends on what methods are to be considered. Wave and solar power I would support. Wind turbines I would not

5. Important but not to the detriment of the surrounding countryside or the ruining of residents lives from noise, glare or flicker. It needs to be very carefully planned and managed

6. No wind turbines on the Roseland

7. Installations must be in proportion and not detract from AONB

8. Not wind farms

9. I am not at all supportive of the wind farm project suggested locally

10. The most important issue facing future generations if we are not to be reliant on purchasing from other countries or nuclear

11. No wind turbines

12. But not wind turbines!

13. In proportion to the size of the population and landscapes taking into account the natural beauty of the area

14. Wind energy will blight the area

15. Not using wind turbines

16. Important but not happy with wind turbines in AONB

17. We need renewable energy in some form

18. To protect the landscape

19. Solar roof panels – yes. Windmills – no

20. Wind turbines and solar parks are popping up everywhere – NOT on the Roseland please

21. The Cornish environment is being ruined by ‘environmentally friendly’ renewable energy installations – wind turbines and solar panels. They may be appropriate in an industrial landscape but otherwise they should be in no one’s back yard, certainly not in the AONB

22. Must be cost effective and discrete. Not destroying views etc.

23. Ensure protect the landscape

24. Protecting the landscape 25. Believe in green energy but not at the cost of the natural beauty and countryside of Cornwall. No wind turbines or solar parks

26. Solar farms - yes but restricted. Wind turbines – no

27. While I believe in renewable energy I would not like to see this being given preference over protection of the landscape

28. I have no objection to solar farms or wind farms as a group but this tendency for ‘odd’ turbines popping up everywhere spoils every view

29. Community ownership

30. Not to have windmills anywhere

31. Not to have solar panels on farm land

32. Small scale not industrial/large scale

33. I do not think we should have wind turbines on Roseland but solar is OK

34. Depends on method used – vast developments of wind farms or solar panels would destroy a beautiful area and the damage to the environment would be unjustified

35. Wind turbines aren’t as ugly as some people make out and they are so harmless to the environment

36. What about power station using water power bottom Tregony?

37. Renewable energy is important but Parish should not be overrun with wind turbines and solar panels. AONB policy should be adhered to

38. There must be a policy for wind turbines and solar farms. Their provision in an AONB cannot be permitted under any circumstances. Such areas are so important to the Roseland

39. No wind turbines

40. We feel that the present technology of renewable energy requires spoiling the landscape to an unacceptable degree

41. But not windmills. We should be harnessing tidal power and putting energy generators out of sight

42. Nice idea in theory but unfortunately every form of renewable energy (and especially wind turbines and solar farms, though not necessarily solar panels on dwellings) cause serious and significant damage to the environment and are not ‘green’

43. More should be done to look into tidal power – always available and unobtrusive

44. Not at the cost of turning the Roseland into a carpet of wind farms

45. Renewable energy is obviously important but it must not impact on the landscape because this will have a detrimental effect on the tourists enjoyment (Now our principle industry)

46. Marine power generation has far more potential for the West country. The tide flows twice a day irrespective of wind, cloud cover etc.

47. No wind turbines on skyline. They ruin the beauty of the countryside while producing very small amounts of electricity 48. No windmills please

49. Photo-voltaic only

50. Should exclude windmill and solar farms. Should consist only of systems that do not dominate the environment

51. At the expense of protecting our landscape?

52. No solar panels overlooking the sea at St Mawes please

53. There are far too many wind turbines and solar farms blighting the Cornish countryside. Please try and keep them off the Roseland

54. Provided they don’t put any wind turbines on the Roseland. Solar panels are OK

55. Is important but the Roseland is not suitable for either wind or solar farms. Presumably there are no plans for a tidal barrier on the Fal!

56. No wind farms but discreet solar panels OK

57. We need to obtain renewable energy from the sea. Not have these awful wind turbines going up in the Roseland and in the bay. Blot on the landscape!

58. Promotion of solar panels (domestic only)

59. No vast arrays to spoil AONB

60. Now that the met office has admitted that global warming is a myth there is no need for ugly wind turbines or solar panels in this area.

61. Atomic power stations fine – create jobs

62. Not enough land space and would ruin Roseland’s real asset – it’s rare natural beauty

63. Please don’t cover the Roseland with solar and wind farms. Why not harness the sea?

64. Geothermal

65. As the Roseland is an AONB we do not want the landscape spoiled by visual intrusions e.g. windmills etc. either on land or out to sea otherwise this beautiful peninsula will just be like everywhere else

66. Not wind farms!

67. The subsidies to renewables are a tax on the poorest benefitting land owners. They must be discouraged by Cornwall council

68. Ban all wind farms from CCC proceedings. They are a blot on the landscape and inefficient producers of energy or reducers of carbon emissions

69. Good if suitably placed

70. Pre-supposes that global warming is a proven fact when it isn’t and the last thing we need is our beautiful countryside covered with ghastly noisy wind turbines and fields full of rusting solar panels making huge profits for the privileged few and ruining the environment for the rest in the process

71. Hope – no more windmills 72. Fear – wind and solar farms. Small scale OK no higher than the church tower

73. Fear – I don’t want wind turbines or solar farms

74. Fear – wind farms (2nd home owner)

75. Hope – no wind farms on Carrick headland (2nd home owner)

76. Fear – large wind farms spoiling the natural beauty of the Roseland

77. Hope – an energy management plan (Community owned renewable energy plant i.e. solar panels, wind turbines) where the money produced goes back into community projects

78. Fear – wind turbines

79. Fear – too many turbines!

80. Fear – wind turbines & solar farms

81. Hope – sustainable energy

82. Fear – no windmills. Renewable energy

83. Fear – no to wind turbines (2nd home owner)

84. Fear – no wind turbines

85. Fear – wind turbines

86. Fear – solar and wind farms – can destroy AONB. Solar – not big fields but small domestic OK. Wind – not farms but odd one here and there OK (2nd home owner)

87. Hope – support wind/solar farms

88. Fear – solar panels, offshore wind farms (2nd home owner)

89. Fear - no wind farms (2nd home owner)

90. Fear – wind farms – small scale OK. Solar – small scale especially on roofs, especially on community basis (more cost effective) (2nd home owner)

91. Hope – no more wind farms (2nd home owner)

92. Fear - large wind farms (2nd home owner)

93. Hope – there are various community based energy generation projects in Cornwall – wind/sea/solar – locally owned. That seems interesting (e.g. Wadebridge) (2nd home owner)

94. Fear – ensuring controls over turbines – not on every hill. Similarly solar – not on every roof top (2 nd home owner)

95. Fear – no offshore development especially wind turbines (2nd home owner)

96. Fear – I do not mind wind turbines provided they are away from populated areas

97. Fear – ugly solar farms (as opposed to use on roofs) Windmills along the coast (2nd home owner)

98. No nuclear power stations 99. Hope – the AONB is robust enough to resist pressures o disfigure the Roseland with ‘so called green’ energy projects, especially solar farms and wind turbines – not green at all
