<p> Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine</p><p>Trader Notice MH 15/2017</p><p>To: All Food Business Operators Subject: Notice on the provision of information on substances or products causing allergies or intolerances</p><p>This is to advise you that on 13 July 2017, the Commission adopted a Notice on the provision of information on substances or products causing allergies or intolerances. This document updates the previous guidance document on allergen labelling issued under Directive 2000/13/EC. </p><p>Its purpose is to assist consumers, businesses and national authorities in understanding the new requirements of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 related to the indication of the presence of certain substances or products causing allergies or intolerances.</p><p>The Notice is published on the Commission’s reference page on FIC: https://ec.europa.eu/food/safety/labelling_nutrition/labelling_legislation_en which provides useful background information.</p><p>Role of FBO</p><p>Food business operators must make sure that allergen labelling information provided with their products complies with food labelling law. </p><p> labelling_legislation_ guidance_allegens-2017-4864_en.pdf</p><p>Audrey Lyons, Meat Hygiene Division.</p><p>4 September 2017</p>
