<p> Referees and Match Officials</p><p>Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Insurance</p><p>1. What levels of cover are provided to Referees and Match Officials?</p><p>Referees and Match Officials (Referees and Touch Judges) are covered for Public Liability up to £5m and Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability as per the below table.</p><p>Age 1. A voluntary option for Death By Natural Causes Cover is available through Referees Societies Note 2 : Benefit 4I) does not apply if the claimant is not in regular full time employment at the date of the accident.</p><p>2. Is there any difference between the Insurance provided to Society Referees, and Non-Society Referees?</p><p>As far as the Compulsory element of the insurance is concerned, there is no difference between the covers provided at all.</p><p>However, Referees Societies have the option to purchase additional voluntary cover for Death By Natural Causes and Loss of Earnings.</p><p>3. In what circumstances would a referee not be insured?</p><p>Non-society referees will only receive Public Liability Cover and Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability Cover whilst refereeing a match in which at least one of the participating teams has taken the Compulsory Playing Insurance (or Single Match cover).</p><p>Society referees are covered to referee any game, although the referee may jeopardise this cover if he/she acts outside of the RFU rules and regulations that apply. </p><p>4. What cover do Coaches receive? Coaches receive Public Liability cover of £5m and Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability cover as per the above table. However, this is only provided if they are acting under the auspices of an affiliated club or the RFU.</p><p>5. What cover do Assessors receive?</p><p>As members of a referee’s society, Assessors receive Public Liability Insurance at £5m.</p><p>In addition Assessors receive cover under the Compulsory Playing Insurance for the full Accident Death and Permanent Total Disability benefits (see table above). In the case of Assessors this cover operates from departure until subsequent return provided travel is direct.</p><p>6. What cover do Referees Society committee members receive?</p><p>Committee Members of Referees Societies receive both Public Liability Insurance at £5m and Directors and Officers Liability insurance. </p>
