<p> Country Hills Elementary School PTA</p><p>Membership Meeting</p><p>Tuesday, February 25, 2014</p><p>CALL TO ORDER The meeting of the Country Hills Elementary School PTA was held on this date in the cafeteria. The meeting was called to order at 9:25am.</p><p>GUEST SPEAKERS Guests Bernie Kemp, Past President, Broward County Council of PTA; and Latha Krishnaiyer, Past President, Broward County Council of PTA were introduced.</p><p>Mr. Kemp advised that he will be facilitating the CHE PTA Executive Board officers’ elections this year. He stated that he will oversee the entire process, from nominations through elections. </p><p>Mr. Kemp advised that he will develop a form for any CHE PTA member interested in nominating themselves or others for Executive Board positions; this form will be distributed shortly. Forms will be returned to Mr. Kemp. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor on the day of the election. </p><p>Mr. Kemp and Ms. Krishnaiyer advised that they, along with another member of the Broward County PTA, will be present at the April 8 th, 2014 CHE PTA meeting to administer the elections. Elections will be by written ballot. </p><p>MINUTES Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as amended.</p><p>PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Mrs. Stroup announced that the 4th Grade Writes FCAT was being administered today. Good luck to all CHE 4th Graders!</p><p>A theme for the CHE 25th Celebration has been decided. It is: Team CHE is Soaring to New Heights. Preparations for the Celebration are being finalized. The children have enjoyed working on the 25th Anniversary tiles. Mrs. Stroup urged all parents to take the customer survey online. She also advised that all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students would be taking a survey.</p><p>Mr. Adriesse was a semi-finalist for Broward County Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Stroup congratulated Mr. Adriesse.</p><p>Kindergarten Orientations held thus far have been well-attended. The next Orientation will be held on March 19th at 9:00am. </p><p>Mrs. Stroup thanked all those who attended and volunteered during the 5-K Walk. </p><p>Spring Break is one month away.</p><p>Mrs. Stroup assured the members that there is a paper supply in the school; no need for concern that the school has run out of paper.</p><p>PRESIDENT’S REPORT Cathi Rush announced that Mrs. Kuhns will be a guest speaker at the March 18th PTA Meeting; this will be a night meeting at 6:30pm. Mrs. Kuhns will speak about Common Core/Florida State Standards and have a question and answer session on this topic.</p><p>TREASURER’S REPORT Treasurer Irene Brenner submitted her reports for the month of January.</p><p>JANUARY:</p><p>Beginning Balance 1/01/14: $52,682.93; Total Income 1/01/14-1/31/14: $7,715.55. Total expenses 1/01/14-1/31/14: $13,243.11. Cash on Hand 1/31/14: $47,155.37.</p><p>NEW BUSINESS Mrs. Everett is retiring at the end of the 2013-2014 school year. There was discussion on what PTA may coordinate to recognize her.</p><p>Book Fair is in need of volunteers for upcoming Book Fair in May. Contact chair, Rhonda Bible, if interested in helping with Book Fair.</p><p>Voting Item that was on agenda – poster maker - was tabled, as Mrs. Phalen continues to further researches costs/options. ANNOUNCEMENTS SAC/SAF Meeting, Monday, March 31st, 6:30pm in media center</p><p>PTA Basket Auction, April 11, 6:30pm</p><p>Wendy Shepard announced that the Just Between Friends consignment will be held April 4-6, with a presale April 3. Flyer to be sent home. Present flyer and CHE PTA gets 5% of purchase.</p><p>Schedule of future PTA Meetings:</p><p>March 18, 6:30pm – Guest Speaker, Mrs. Kuhns – Common Core Q&A</p><p>April 8, 9:15am – Elections</p><p>May 13, 9:15am</p><p>ADJOURNMENT A motion was made at 10:06am, by Laurie Leavy, to adjourn the meeting.
