<p> Fullerton College Basic Skills Initiative Social Science Division Basic Skills Coordinator Job Description</p><p>OVERVIEW:</p><p>The Social Science Division Basic Skills Coordinator provides leadership in meeting the needs of basic skills students through planning, coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on division participation in basic skills programs and activities, in collaboration with the campus basic skills coordinator, other division basic skills coordinators, the division dean, and division support staff. The position comes with four units of reassigned time, or 10+ hours per week. </p><p>KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Provide faculty leadership and coordination of basic skills programs and activities within the division.  Convene regular meetings of the division basic skills committee.  Attend meetings with the campus basic skills coordinator and other division basic skills coordinators and managers to collaborate and report on basic skills activities and programs.  Serve as liaison between the division faculty and campus basic skills leadership.  Ensure division participation in appropriate/relevant basic skills programs and activities.  Provide input and advice to the campus basic skills coordinator on appropriate workshops, conferences, and other staff development activities related to basic skills pedagogy.  Work with the Academic Support Center to ensure that appropriate workshops and tutoring are provided to support the needs of basic skills students in the division.  Ensure the provision of appropriate training for basic skills tutors.  Coordinate division participation in the Graduate Student Internship Program (in collaboration with the Campus Basic Skills Coordinator).  Assist in facilitating division participation in the Basic Skills Adjunct Training Program.  Facilitate division participation in specific campus basic skills programs such as the Strategic Literacy Initiative, Counseling Connections, DSS Outreach and Assessment Program, etc.  Participate in the evaluation and formation of recommendations for basic skills programs.  Provide formal and informal reports on division participation in basic skills activities.  Assist in identifying at-risk students in five targeted general education courses and link them with follow-up and/or tutoring.</p>
