<p> 2010 World Championship Powerboat Races November 7 – 14, 2010</p><p>The best place to view the races is at the Westin Pier located at The Westin Key West Resort & Marina</p><p>This November marks the 30th year for the World Championship Powerboat Races in Key West, Florida. Thousands of fans will flood to Key West for the famous Indianapolis 500 of powerboat races. Race days are November 10th (Wednesday), November 12th (Friday), and November 14th (Sunday). The race course runs through Key West Harbor, The Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean making it one of the premiere racing venues in the world. </p><p>For more information on the event, please visit superboat.com.</p><p>The Westin Pier offers dining, beverages and great view of the races: Part of the course is directly between The Westin Pier and the island of Sunset Key. From the pier at the Westin, you can view the 80+ powerboats, crews, engines and helicopters up close and personal. You can literally feel the engines roar! If you like powerboats this is the best spot in town.</p><p>At the Westin Pier, you may choose to enjoy full-service dining from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM while you view the races from your seat! Seating space is limited and it is on a first- come-first-served basis. Or you may view the races standing on the Westin Pier or on the Sunset Deck where full bar service will be available starting at 10:00 AM, and beginning at noon on Sunday. There is no fee to access the Westin Pier and view the races! </p><p>Key West Harbor closes during races and stops access to Sunset Key: Please note that Key West Harbor is closed to all boat traffic during the races by the US Coast Guard. These schedules are approximate and subject to change. Limited boat transportation services will be available between The Westin Key West Resort & Marina and the island of Sunset Key on racing days November 10th (Wednesday), November 12th (Friday), and November 14th (Sunday) from approximately 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On racing days, the Harbor will be closed from approximately 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and again from approximately12:30 PM until 5:00 PM (or the end of the third race). There will be a short time in between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM where we can operate our boats through the Harbor. </p><p>Our Sunset Key ferry will operate as normal until the racing times. The last ferry departure from The Westin Marina will be at 8:45 AM and the last ferry departure from Sunset Key will be at 9:00 AM. The island of Sunset Key will be inaccessible from approximately 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and again from approximately 12:30 PM until 5:00 PM. The Sunset Key ferry will make very limited runs between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM during racing days. The regular Sunset Key ferry schedule will resume once the Key West Harbor reopens.
