RattraCE Funding

Five applications for funding had previously been made for RattraCE activities this summer. So far £500 has been received from ‘Caring for Kids’ and £1000 from ‘Grants Direct’ at Perth and Kinross. This almost already meets out target of £1700. The application to ‘Awards to All’ had been returned with a few amendments to be made. RH to organise this and make the return ASAP.

2. Community Accommodation

The action group will be meeting again soon to view drawings of proposed solutions from the architect. BK highlighted some of the accommodation issues at the school where they have struggled, but managed, to find a room for a ‘bumps and babies’ event once per term. BK had recently attended the “Equally Well” event at Balmoral Halls where she, and other members of the community, had expressed their concerns about the lack of community accommodation in the Rattray area. It was also noted that the Blairgowrie Advertiser’s front page feature for the week had been the need for a base for the community wardens in Rattray.

3. Games Evening (Tuesday 31 st March 2009)

This will be held from 6.30 – 8.00pm, organised by the P7s, and will be an informal evening for families to enjoy the various activities on offer. It will not cost to attend and it is hoped that a free piece of fruit will be available as a healthy snack for those attending on the night.

4. Easter Disco (Thursday 2 nd April 2009)

BK had sent out letters to ask for help during both the junior and senior discos:

P1-P3 6.30 to 7.30 P4-P7 7.45 to 9.00

BK and Mrs Flett will be helping on the night. The group expressed concerns about the last disco where very few helpers were available for the senior disco despite a large number of parents stating that they would be available. RH to check returns to ensure that enough help will be available.

5. Car Boot Sale

FA reported that space for twelve cars would be possible behind Somerfield for the Car Boor Sale. It was decided to raise the charge to £7 per car. LB to check to see if we can use the ground adjacent to the burger van for a few more cars. SG and RH to organise posters and banners to advertise the event. 6. Fun Day (Saturday 9 th May 2009 10 – 1pm)

FA reported that most helpers had been contacted and were able to attend. Formal letters to helpers will be arranged after the holidays. BK suggested that we also approached P5 pupils to ask for their help. RH to contact John Corrigan about the possibility of using the sumo suits.

Setting up for the Fun Day will begin the previous day (Friday) after school to reduce the setting up time required on Saturday morning.

7. Party in the Playground (Sunday 28 th June 3 – 6pm)

FA reported that we had £330 left in the parental involvement budget to spend on this event. BK said that she would be meeting with Pete Nicol tomorrow to ask his advice on organising the various bands, equipment and staging required.

8. AOCB

A number of the parents present had attended the recent science evening organised by Mr Scott and Mr Renfrew from P + K Council. Many positive comments were made about the activities which were clearly enjoyed by both pupils and parents.

BK highlighted the school’s recent focus on early years provision. This included stay and play, bumps and babies, nursery home visits, book and cook, and consideration on how to include children aged from fourteen months to two years. There will be eight full time places available at Rattray Nursery next year as well as twenty two part time places. The criteria for selecting children for the full time places have not been made available yet. A fourth member of staff will be employed at the nursery to cover the additional workload.

FA raised the issue of purchasing something to support the school’s health week.
