<p>EDUC332/53, Development and Cognition Salem College</p><p>Journal Article Critique Outline</p><p>Reference (5 points): use APA style (include DOI # if retrieved online)</p><p>Purpose of study (10 points) as stated by author</p><p>Elements of study (10 points): sample (number, age, country/region, etc.) measures (observation, standardized test, , etc) design : experimental, quasi-experimental, correlational, descriptive</p><p>Summary (15 points) Summarize the content of the article</p><p>Conclusions (20 points) What did the author conclude after completing the study? What applications to the “real world” are recommended or suggested?</p><p>Critique (20 points) 1. Were the author’s conclusions appropriate to the information presented and to the type of research method used? 2. Evaluate the writing style for clarity/readability. 3. What made the article important (topic, population, research method)? 4. Other comments.</p><p>Concluding Statement (20 points) 1. What are YOU willing to conclude about the topic after reading the article? 2. What applications to the classroom would you recommend? 3. What topics for further research are suggested?</p><p>Use only articles from the Psyc ARTICLES or ERIC databases (exceptions must be approved in advance by the instructor). Attach a paper copy of the article to your review. Reviews should not exceed four pages in length (double spaced). revised, August, 2011 </p>
