LED LAMPS

WHAT IS LED? A Light Emitting Diode (LED) is a semiconductor consisting of a chip that produces light when an electrical current flows through into it. High-power LED chips are used to create a broad variety of products providing lighting choices for every application. Our Satco LED lamps are developed by incorporating high-efficiency LEDs into a lamp- shaped housing using precise thermal management and featuring an internationally patented technology with which to operate. Satco Products offer exceptionally long life LED’s suited for use in down lights, decorative lighting, general lighting and other residential and commercial applications.

LED BASICS

Features and benefits: • Sustainable – Reduces energy use up to 80% when compared to standard incandescent lamps. • Long life – Average LED life is up to 50,000 hours, 30 times longer than the equivalent incandescent. • Mercury and lead free – There are no hazardous substances in the LED lamp, so there are no recycling or disposal issues. • Maximum Color Consistency – Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) is tightly controlled through a precise binning process, which maintains color and light output throughout the lamp life. • Safe light – LEDs do not emit ultra violet or infrared light so it’s harmless to objects being illuminated. • Less heat produced – Reduces cooling costs resulting in increased energy savings. • SATCO provides options – Most products are offered in both 3200K and 5500K with PAR lamp beam spreads of 25 and 40 degrees.

ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS of an LED LAMP

LED Chip: A small semiconductor constructed onto a layer of heat-conducting material that is generally covered with a lens.

Heat Sink Thermally conductive aluminum material which provides the extremely important task of heat transference.

Driver The fundamental role of the driver is to maintain the voltage/current into the LED, similar to the way ballast operates a fluorescent lamp.

Optics Crucial for efficient light distribution. Standard reflectors lose about 50% of their light output within the fixture whereas an LED delivers all the light to where it’s designed to go due to precise optics.
