Team: P17001 Engineer: Nicole Sauter, Industrial Engineering (Project Manager) Entering Phase: MSD II

What do I plan on doing to ensure that Team P17001 has a successful Phase 5 review?

1. Actively participate in all team meetings and design sessions (Continuous)

2. Maintain and update the risk assessment (Continuous)

3. For the first phase of MSD II I, with Emmanuel, will take on the task of proposing our project for Imagine RIT. Emmanuel and I will take care of any requests and paperwork that need to be filled out and submitted.

4. I will also serve to make sure that the three subsystem builds are going in such a way that they will be able to be integrated into one larger system when the time comes.

5. I will continue to work on building prototypes of the device to help us learn more about the mechanical functionality.

6. Continue to put forth extra effort to ensure our team is as successful as possible in MSD II

You will answer these three questions when you submit at the end of Phase 4.

1. What did I actually do? During Phase 4, I updated the engineering requirements and helped Jackie update the customer requirements. I also updated the risk analysis and reviewed previously identified risks. I gathered data from the ANSUR database on the sizes of hands of the 5th percentile female and the 95th percentile male. I also worked on some more prototyping using the protoboard. Finally, I summarized MSD I on the team’s EDGE website.

2. What did I learn?

a. During Phase 4, I learned the basics of soldering electrical components to the protoboard. MSD I Lessons Learned

 Don’t overcomplicate something that is mechanically quite simple.

 Constant communication between team members is critical to remaining on the same page.

 Having a plan to get everything in each phase done and sticking to it produces the best quality work.  When in doubt, prototype.
