Use of the LOGISTICS SECTION CHIEF CHECKLISTS

Use of the LOGISTICS SECTION CHIEF CHECKLISTS:

The following checklists for the Logistics Chief were developed because the LSC can’t remember everything. These checklists were developed to be used on CDF wildland fire incidents; however most of the information on them will be needed by the LSC no matter what kind of an incident he/she is assigned to.

TransitionBriefingChecklist.doc: Is used during the Team Transition Meeting when the local Unit is providing information to the incoming team. Many of the questions will be answered when the CDF Incident Command Team Transition Briefing and Debriefing form is reviewed. When the briefing is concluded the local Unit representative will ask each team member if he/she has any questions. Don’t try to get the rest of your checklist’s questions answered then, just respond to the representative that you would like to get together with them after the briefing to complete your checklist.

Initial Response Checklist: This checklist was developed to be used when the LSC first arrives at the incident base. Its emphasis is:  Has everything been ordered for the Logistics Section?  What does the Logistics Section need to provide for the initial Incident Action Plan?  First feeding.

First Day / Daily Checklist: This checklist is used 12 to 24 hours after the LSC arrives at the incident. It is primarily used to make sure everything is up and running. It can be used on a daily basis for touching bases with the different Units in the Logistics Section.

Demobilization Preparation Checklist: Start this checklist as soon as Operations mentions DEMOB. Sometime our folks are so focused on getting their job done, they don’t think about winding down. This checklist will make sure the Logistics Section is ready for the Demobilization process to start.

Demobilization Checklist: When the Logistics Section transitions from Demobbing the incident to Demobbing themselves this checklist kicks in. If each Unit in Logistics is checked off, the Logistics Section Chief is almost ready to leave.

(see Table of Contents)
