I figured I had 9/14/2009 5:14 PM EDT on The BLOG ROLL nothing to lose by trying a microcurrent treatment, Charlotte Observer but wasn’t really expecting a great deal of Charlotte Report Parents improvement of my sinuses. But it intrigued me that something like this that most people seek out for cosmetic reasons, could have such a profound healing effect on my body. Although my intent for going was to help clear my sinuses, Elaine still took a before and after photograph of my face …and there were noticeable, visible differences after that very first session. The dark circles under my eyes appeared lighter, my cheekbones had more definition, and my complexion appeared healthier. I was shocked and so pleased with my sinus improvement that I went back for subsequent microcurrent sessions, and experienced significant sinus drainage and improved circulation in those visits as well. I suppose now would be a good time to explain exactly what a microcurrent treatment is, since many people have not heard of this technology.

A microcurrent treatment is a completely natural procedure that sends electrical signals (that mimic the body's own electrical impulses) to the muscles and surrounding tissues in the face to promote collagen production. Each microcurrent session lasts between 45 minutes to an hour (and costs about the same as a full hour massage). A natural skin cream is smoothed onto your face before the probes are applied to your skin. These metal probes emit electrical currents and penetrate the skin and underlying muscles, utilizing traditional acupuncture points. These treatments reach deep within the skin’s layers and trigger cell production and repair.

Clinical studies have shown that microcurrent procedures trigger the production of amino acids, the body’s natural building blocks which are involved with accelerating cell production and repair. The microcurrent treatment gives the muscles a “mini workout”. This may result in:

· Tighter, firmer skin · A clearer complexion · Improved Lymphatic and Sinus Drainage · Improved Circulation · A healthy glow and more even skin tone · Reduction of fine lines & wrinkles on face & neck · Lifting and tightening the eyebrows · Softening swelling or darkened areas of the face · Reduction or elimination of age spots and superficial scars

Microcurrent procedures are designed for aging skin, but can also be used on younger skin to slow down the aging process as a preventative anti-aging measure. And microcurrent treatments do not damage the skin or cause pain like laser treatments, chemical peels and injectables (like Botox). A microcurrent treatment is also much more affordable than traditional plastic surgery, and you have no down time. That is why some have dubbed microcurrent treatments as Lunchtime Face-lifts.

Before microcurrent treatments After microcurrent treatments

You will need to undergo a skin consultation to determine if this is the right treatment for you, and may need to book a series of sessions to see results, although many clients achieve results after only their first session.

Generally, microcurrent sessions are not recommended for pregnant women or those with a pacemaker or epilepsy.

Elaine reports that most of her clients do not feel anything during the treatment, and some may even be so relaxed that they fall asleep. Although never painful, I could feel the energy currents running through my entire body, not just in my face. This is probably due to my familiarity with energy sensations through my work as a Reiki Master. Not electroshock treatment kind of feeling, but I could distinctly feel pulses or a pins and needles sensation in my face. Although I only experienced the microcurrent on my face, this technology can also be utilized on the body to firm, tighten and reduce appearance of cellulite on other areas of the body like the stomach or thighs.

Elaine reported that she has some clients that want body sculpting treatments, although the vast majority of her clients only want to receive the treatments on their faces.

If you would like more information on microcurrent sessions, or to schedule one for yourself, visit: http://www.beautifulimage.net

Or call Elaine Colter at 704-608-7399

jflemings13 wrote:

Ok I'm in too!

9/14/2009 6:08 PM EDT on The

Charlotte Observer

Report Recommend Permalink Abuse

JonMcP wrote:

Fascinating...
