<p> Partial Bed Bath Skill</p><p>The steps listed below are required to demonstrate each skill. Highly important steps are in bold. All steps must be completed in order to receive a Satisfactory on skill. The role of the resident is played by a mannequin. Each missed step will deduct 5 points from the overall grade. If the student completes all steps competently a grade of a 100 will be earned.</p><p>Equipment: wash cloth, towel, soap, gown, gloves, basin of water, linen container</p><p>1. Inform client of procedure, communicating plainly, and maintaining eye to eye contact</p><p>2. Provide complete privacy</p><p>3. Completely remove gown off client (this is because you will be putting on a new clean gown later) and place old gown into soiled/dry linen container, do not over expose client</p><p>4. Before beginning to wash client, candidate must check the temperature of the water and then have client touch water to verify temperature of water</p><p>5. Before beginning to wash client, put on a clean pair of gloves</p><p>6. Starting with eyes (DO NOT PUT SOAP ON WASH CLOTH when doing eyes and face) wash each eye with wet cloth moving from inner aspect to the outer aspect; make sure the area of the wash cloth is changed for each eye and every wipe, then wash face (Highly Important Step)</p><p>7. Gently pat dry face with a towel or dry wash cloth</p><p>8. Make sure client’s shirt sleeve is pushed up to expose one arm completely then place towel length wise under arm</p><p>9. Put soap on wet wash cloth, do not put soap in basin of water</p><p>10. Wash completely one arm, hand and underarm (with soap and water)</p><p>11. Rinse and dry one arm, one hand and underarm (with water)</p><p>12. Do not overly extend limb and joints</p><p>13. Dress client with a clean gown</p><p>14. Go over to sink, empty water into sink, rinse basin with running water then dry basin out with clean paper towels</p><p>15. After rinsing wash basin and drying it place wash basin in designated dirty supply area</p><p>16. Discard all used linen (wash cloth and towel) into designated linin containers</p><p>17. Do not put used next to your (candidate) clothing at any time 18. After completing steps 15-17, then take off gloves and throw them in the trash container and then wash your hands</p><p>19.
