<p> Serrania Charter for Enriched Studies LAUSD Principal: Luis Alvarado Governing Board Meeting Minutes ~ January 19, 201 </p><p>Meeting called to order – 2:52 PM by Rosa Panayan (Chairperson)</p><p>Roll Call</p><p>In Attendance: Rosa Panyayan, Marie (Francios) Lamothe, Deborah Ellis, Jenny Pan Hacker, Allison Tenzer, Maryam Tahmasebi, Grant Barbeito, David Gershon, Asal Al-Salman, Laurie O’Keefe, and Debby Dustin</p><p>Old Business:</p><p>A. Approve Minutes – Laurie O’Keefe made the motion to approve and Grant Barbeito seconded the motion.</p><p>New Business:</p><p>A. Budget requests: a. $12,500 PSA Counselor – the budget will need to be reviewed and finalized by the teachers next week and we will discuss the hiring of the PSA Counselor at the next governing board meeting b. $8,000 – clerical staff overtime – Rosa Panayan moved to approve and Maryam Tahmasebi seconded the motion. c. $7,560 (average of $72/hr) – 7 weeks of intervention classes, twice a week for 2 hours and 1 hour of planning time – Grant Barbeito moved to approve and Marie Lamothe seconded the motion. d. $2,475 for Ready Math Toolboxes Laptops (25x99 students. Discussion occurred for PE equipment, which was approximately $3,000. There might be money from FOS so we will check tonight at the FOS meeting.</p><p>B. School Reports – nothing to report a. Suggestion box b. Teamwork/Discipline: Encourage kindness instead of bullying to approach kindness differently. We should have teachers reinforce good behavior and give verbal praise instead of prizes. c. Community - month of February is Generations day and the cut-a-thon, which will be done along with Woodland Hills Academy by streaming the hair cutting of their students d. Enrichment – 100th day – the school will be celebrating by doing things that emphasize 100, since it will be the 100th day of school. e. Achievement – Math medals and awards for those kids who did well on testing. There was an agreement for this idea. f. STEM – Science night is on February 1st. The Science Fair is on March 28th during Open House. g. FOS update h. ELAC </p><p>C.
