<p>Scripture versus Tradition</p><p>What is the meaning of the Bible? It comes from the Greek word ‘biblos’ meaning books. How many books are there in the Bible? 66 How many in the Old Testament? 39 How many in the New Testament? 27</p><p>How do you know that the Bible is the word of God? 2 Tim 3:16 ; 2 Pet 1:19-21</p><p>Jesus authorized the word of God. </p><p>Mat 4:3-4 it is written Mat 4:5-11 it is written Scriptures give the answer not tradition Mat 21:42 Mark 7:6-8</p><p>Tradition say, the head of the church is the Pope? Is this correct? According to the Bible who is of the church? Eph 5:23; Col 1:18</p><p>Tradition say, Pope is the holy father, what does the scripture say? Mat 23:9</p><p>Tradition say our mediator is through Mary and the saints? What does the Bible say? 1 Tim 2:5</p><p>Tradition say it’s ok to worship images? What does the scriptures say? Exodus 20:4-5 Habakkuk 2:19</p><p>Tradition say you need to confess your sins to the priest? What does the scriptures say? 1 John 1:9</p><p>Jesus Name – John 14:13-14; 16;23</p><p>Tradition say Mary never sinned. What does the Bible say? Rom 3:23: 5:12 Mary. Only a sinner need a Savior. Luke 1:47</p><p>Tradition say the church is built on Apostle Peter? What does the Bible say? </p><p>Mt 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Well, doesn’t it look clear that the Church Built on Peter? No. It does not. Peter in Greek is Petros it means a small rock or a stone. Jesus in Matthew 16:18 said, Thou art Peter, meaning a small rock/stone. Then Jesus said upon this rock. Rock here in Greek is not Petros but Petra meaning a large rock and on that large rock he will build his church not on a stone. The church is not built on a little stone but on the large rock of Jesus Christ, if the church is built on a man’s foundation it will not last.</p><p>1 Cor 3: 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.</p><p>Colossians 2:8 </p>
