<p> LEAP Peer Support Development Worker Job Description</p><p>Main Responsibilities To recruit, train and support peer supporters in our Recovery House, a nine- bedded unit for men in early recovery. Emphasis being on peer to peer support meeting needs around cohesion, support and management</p><p>To recruit, train and support a team of volunteer Peer Mentors who deliver a mentoring service tailored to the needs of patients as part of the LEAP (Lothians & Edinburgh Abstinence Programme), Peer Based Recovery Support Programme.</p><p>Key Tasks</p><p>Recruitment of Peer Supporters Working closely with the LEAP Aftercare team to recruit suitable individuals for the role of Peer Support. To provide fortnightly group support and supervision to Peer Supporters To maintain statistics on recruitment and other parameters of the job To ensure Peer Supporters undertake Peer Mentoring training and any other relevant training that will help to support them in their mentoring role Provide signposting and support to Peer Supporters of any suitable activities and opportunities within the local area, which may be appropriate for their recovery and employment development</p><p>Tasks and Responsibilities</p><p>Peer Support recruitment, training and support To coordinate, develop and deliver appropriate training for Peer Supporters To develop and maintain links with external training providers for the progression of Peer Supporters To monitor and review Peer Support placements to ensure Peer Supporters receive sufficient support and achieve their goals</p><p>Partnership Working</p><p> To attend events, such as volunteer fairs and community events to promote LEAP’s Peer Support Programme To develop and maintain good working relationships and referral pathways with relevant organisations who provide training and volunteering opportunities for volunteers Monitoring and Evaluation</p><p> To ensure funding requirements are met and the impact of the work is recorded, monitored and evaluated To provide reports as and when required to both funders and LEAP Management Team To ensure data recording is accurately updated and maintained To ensure that all Peer Supporters are actively receiving 1:1 supervision provided by the LEAP team, and that these are being recorded and kept appropriately</p><p>Knowledge and Skills</p><p> Knowledge and understanding of good practice when working with volunteers Knowledge and understanding of the role of Peer Based Recovery Support Fluent user of MS Office, Excel and other database packages</p><p>Experience</p><p> Experience of successfully recruiting, supervising, monitoring and supporting volunteers in an unpaid situation, or experience of coordinating a group of volunteers Working knowledge of the 12 Step Programme Lived experience of addiction and recovery A good understanding and familiarity with what works to promote and sustain recovery from drug and alcohol addiction Experience of delivering talks or presentations to audiences</p><p>Ability</p><p> To communicate effectively and sensitively with vulnerable adults both verbally and in writing To develop and deliver presentations in meetings and group settings To develop and maintain accurate administrative systems, maintaining confidentiality To prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines To develop personal action plans to address strategic service priorities An aptitude to work in a multi-task environment</p>
