Candidates are advised to read the relevant role profile and the UCML Constitution and Standing Orders to inform their candidature. (candidates’ statements should not exceed 150 words. They will be circulated to UCML’s membership with the ballot paper)</p><p>I have wide experience representing my subject and modern languages in general, having been chair of UCML Scotland, as well as a member of the executive committee of AHGBI for several years, with special responsibility for postgraduate matters. I have extensive experience too of working with national bodies, as a several-times panel member and now strategic reviewer for the AHRC, a REF sub-panellist, and in dealing with the funding council as well as schools sector in my previous UCML role. I have worked with LLAS in the past as a member of the LLAS Advisory Board in Scotland, and with schools through the Scottish Association of Language Teachers. In recognition of my work with Spanish culture, I have been named an Oficial de la Orden de Isabel la Católica. I have wide administrative experience in Higher Education, for example as a former Head of School. </p>
