<p> Introduction to Physical Education Campbell County High School 2015-2016</p><p>Instructor: Debra Kramer Email: [email protected] Phone: 635-4161 ext. 2147 Time of Plan Period: 5th period (11:05-12:25) Grade level: 10th Credit: ½ credit Weight: N/A</p><p>General Outline (subject to change): Introduction to the skills, rules, and game play of soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, touch football, ultimate Frisbee, floor hockey, and speedball. Students will also be introduced to the components fitness.</p><p>Description: This course is designed to give a thorough understanding of the skills, rules and st rategies necessary to participate in various team sport activities. Also, students will unde rstand the physical, mental, emotional and social benefits resulting from regular participat ion in leisure, recreational or competitive physical activities.</p><p>Course Standards: Students will analyze the principles for motor skills (e.g., accuracy, technique, ph ysics, mechanics) and make applications for improving these skills (locomotor, no nlocomotor, transitional). Students will infer how an analysis of specialized movement patterns (e.g., swingi ng golf clubs, shooting basketballs) and sequence evaluation (e.g., positioning, pe rforming, following through) can be used to make recommendations for the impro vement of skills used in individual, dual, and team sports (e.g., golf, racket sports, softball, volleyball, basketball). Students will explain how physical, emotional/mental and social benefits result fr om regular participation in leisure/recreational or competitive physical activities. Students will apply techniques (e.g., practice, peer/teacher evaluation, individuali zed coaching) to achieve performance consistency in games and sports. Students will describe the components of fitness (muscular strength, muscular end urance, flexibility, body composition, cardio- respiratory/cardiovascular enduranc e) and apply the FITT Principle (Frequency, Intensity, Type, Time) to create a co mprehensive exercise plan. Students will compare offensive and defensive strategies and basic rules of play f or a variety of games and sports.</p><p>Beginning of class procedures Students must be in the health hallway by the time the tardy bell rings, late students will be sent to get a tardy slip. </p><p> Students will have 5 minutes to change clothing and store belongings in locker room and will then meet in the locker room hallway. </p><p> During this time the classroom teacher will be stationed in the locker room hallway to address any questions or needs students may have. </p><p> 5 minutes after the tardy bell your teacher will lock the locker room doors and classes will report to their designated area with their teacher.</p><p>During Class Assigned teacher will supervise students at all times.</p><p> Any student that leaves the assigned area without permission will receive disciplinary actions for skipping class.</p><p> Locker rooms will remain locked during class, if a student must use the restroom they will be sent to the concession area.</p><p> If a student is summoned to the office they will go as they are and return at the end of class to get belongings unless another faculty member can escort them to the locker room to get belongings.</p><p>End of class procedures Students will remain in the gym until all equipment is collected and stored. At this time the teacher will exit the gym with students to open locker rooms. Students will have 5-7 minutes to change clothing and collect belongings and report back to the locker room hallway where they will remain until the bell rings to dismiss class. </p><p> During this time the classroom teacher will be stationed in the locker room hallway to address any questions or needs students may have. </p><p> All students will exit the Physical education area using the health classroom hallway, no one will be permitted to exit through the gym or track.</p><p>Daily Materials Agenda books Pen or Pencil 1” 3 ring binder Loose Leaf Paper Rubber soled laced gym shoes Athletic apparel compliant to school dress code Daily Expectations</p><p>Show your Camel Pride </p><p>Be Respectful 1. Display good sportsmanship by treating everyone with respect 2. Help other students when you see them struggling with a specific motor skill or observe them using poor mechanics. Responsible 1. Have proper clothing for class (gym shoes, athletic shorts or pants, athletic shirt) 2. Following directions 3. Actively participate in all class activities 4. Report any inappropriate or unsafe behavior to your instructor immediately to help maintain a safe learning environment for all students Safe 1. Use all equipment appropriately as it is intended to be used. If you are not sure how to use equipment ask your teacher to demonstrate proper technique to prevent possible injury to yourself or other students and possible damage to equipment. 2. Examples of unsafe and inappropriate behavior: climbing on bleachers to get equipment, hanging on basketball rims, horseplay</p><p>Grading</p><p> Daily grade for effort and participation in fitness activities, motor skill development activities and games. (10pts)</p><p> Daily grade for being prepared with appropriate clothing and shoes. (5pts)</p><p> Fitness Logs</p><p> Written test/quiz on rules skills, and strategy</p><p> Showing improvement in fitness levels during each quarter</p><p>10pts Student will remain on-task/engaged in activity throughout lesson; no prompts required</p><p>8pts Student requires one prompt to remain on-task/engaged in activity 6pts Student requires two prompts to remain on-task/engaged in activity</p><p>4pts Student requires three prompts to remain on-task/engaged in activity</p><p>2pts Student requires four prompts to remain on-task/engaged in activity</p><p>0pts Student requires five prompts to remain on-task/engaged in activity</p><p>Assignments Homework assignments will be written on the board and should be recorded in agenda books</p><p>After an Absence It is the students’ responsibility to complete the fitness assignment and absence log if the absence was excused. Work to be completed based on the number of days absent. All unexcused absences resulting in missing assignments will be recorded as a zero. Students are responsible for getting notes from another student for information covered on the day of their absence.</p><p>Late or Missing Assignments Students may turn in assignments 1 day late for a 10% penalty. Late assignment will be accepted for partial credit until completion of that unit</p><p>Computer Lab Students must adhere to computer lab rules and procedures, in addition to rules given in the classroom.</p><p>Hall Passes Students will receive 2 hall passes for each quarter. </p><p>Discipline: 1st offense – Warning/Student Teacher Conference 2nd offense – Contact Parents and After School Teacher Detention 3rd offense – Discipline Referral</p><p>Course Procedure - Physical Education is required by the State of Kentucky to graduate from high school. If your child has any medical conditions that would prevent them from being able to meet these requirements, we must have a written explanation from your doctor to keep on file in our department. It must be submitted each year if the condition prevents your child from completing the requirement. - If your child has a medical limitation but it does not hinder the student from participating in the majority of activities, we must also have a doctor explanation to keep on file.</p><p>Locker Room Information: Students may be assigned a locker with the rental of a CCHS lock (cost $5) to use during their Physical Education Course. At the end of the school year the locks may be returned if they are in good working condition for a refund. Each student is responsible for making sure that their belongings are securely locked in their locker during class to prevent possible theft. If your locker or lock is not working properly it is your responsibility to notify your teacher so another locker can be assigned.
