
<p> LAWNTON ELEMENTARY PTO Meeting Minutes February 8, 2011</p><p>Attendees: Maria Archer Mellisa Brownawell Lisarose Kreiss Lori Butler Dawn Ramsey Jackie Price Raegan Camuso Carolyn Dorazio Sarah Ordille Kat Dixon Sherri Radle Jennifer Krause Shelly Sneeringer Jannell Dupes Mrs. Kaschak Mrs. Bryant Kim Shonk Allison States Angie Curtis Lisa Putman Ms. Willis Theresa Gibney Sonia Millan LeAnne Conaway</p><p>Opening:</p><p>The regular meeting of the Lawnton Elementary PTO was called to order at 6:38 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Lawnton Elementary Library by Lisarose Kreiss, President. Sherri Radle recorded the proceedings.</p><p>Approval of the Minutes</p><p>Motion to approve minutes from the January 3, 2011 meeting made by LeAnne Conaway; seconded by Allison States. Minutes approved.</p><p>Principal’s Report – Ms. Willis</p><p>There will be a two-hour delay on Thursday, February 10.</p><p>Pennies for Patients will be held Monday, February 14 through Friday, February 18.</p><p>Math Night is Tuesday, February 15.</p><p>Tentative date for Progress Report distribution – February 25.</p><p>A new Rave program is beginning. A portion of the Raves will go home so parents can see that their child has received a Rave. The children will be presented with the new program which will have more opportunities to win such prizes as sitting in a bean bag for a day, homework pass, race a teacher down the hall, help with announcements, as well as small prizes.</p><p>President’s Report – Lisarose Kreiss</p><p>Bingo Night – Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success.</p><p>Valentine’s Day parties Friday, February 18 at 2:45 p.m.</p><p>From now until the May Fair, there will be May Fair meetings following the PTO meetings.</p><p>Ms. Willis confirmed that the new date for the Spring Concert is Monday, May 23.</p><p>Teacher Appreciation for January – Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Kaschak</p><p>Treasurer’s Report – The budget was reviewed.</p><p>D:\Docs\2018-05-03\06957e07fc7ac3c069b544170c444433.doc Page 1 of 3 Committee Reports</p><p>Bingo Night (Craig Powers) – Thanks to all who helped and donated items to make Bingo Night a success. Special thanks to Mrs. Cintron and Mrs. Kratz (and Lily) for being callers.</p><p>Sub Sale (Maria Archer) – Very successful. Big thanks to Mr. Wolf in helping with delivery and storage of subs.</p><p>5th Grade Fundraiser/Field Trip (Kim Shonk) – 5th graders are selling Sheetz coupon book to help offset bus costs for a trip to Philadelphia. Itinerary to be determined.</p><p>Scholarship (Sherri Radle) – Applications are due April 13.</p><p>Yearbook (Carolyn Dorazio and Kat Dixon) – Orders and money are due February 15. Still looking for more photographs from holiday parties.</p><p>Teacher’s Luncheon, Friday, February 4 (Kat Dixon) – Soup, salad and sandwiches were provided during parent/teacher conference day.</p><p>PTO Shed (Kat Dixon and Lisarose Kreiss) – Finalizing things. Will not be done during class time. Vo-Tech students will be donating their time to construct.</p><p>Recipe Book (LeAnne Conaway) – Flyers with information will be coming home this week.</p><p>Fundraising (Mellisa Brownawell) – Thursday, February 10 is the kick-off for the Gertrude Hawk sale. Orders and money due February 28. Orders can be made online. Info in fundraising packets. Sonia Millan will be helping Mellisa with this sale.</p><p>We will be splitting up the fundraisers in the coming school year: Fall will be KidStuff Books (Kat Dixon). </p><p>PAC (Jackie Price) – Nutrition, Inc – all nutritional information on all of their items can be found through the link on the District website. Why can’t students substitute water for milk? They are charged extra for water. Milk is considered part of the balanced meal that Nutrition, Inc. provides.</p><p>There are three athletic trainers for CDSD. They only attend wrestling events. If someone is hurt at another event, 911 is called.</p><p>Enrichment Math Programs were discussed. Lawnton does not have this program due to lack of teacher availability. Jackie will ask who pays for this program, what time is lost in the transition to participate in this program, and what classes is it cutting in to? Can it be done cyberly?</p><p>The 8th grade course selection disparity between CD and East feeder schools was discussed.</p><p>How can parents gain access to student learning maps? Jackie will ask at the next meeting.</p><p>D:\Docs\2018-05-03\06957e07fc7ac3c069b544170c444433.doc Page 2 of 3 Every school is represented at the PAC meetings, as well as Dr. Gonzalez and any professional who can help answer the questions that have made the agenda. The next meeting is February 23.</p><p>A+ Rewards at Giant (Craig Powers) – $710.94 earned so far. Goal is $1,200.00.</p><p>Box Tops for Education (Jannell Dupes) – Next collection will be Monday, February 21. </p><p>Chuck E. Cheese Night (Kat Dixon) – Thursday, February 17, 3:00-9:00 p.m. Chuck E. will be at school at 3:30 to wave to the kids. Teachers get a free meal.</p><p>Swim Night (Lori Butler) – Date to be determined.</p><p>Senior Night (Raegan Camuso) – Thursday, March 24. Invitations are ready to be mailed.</p><p>5th Grade Party (Maria Archer) – Committee will be meeting soon to plan.</p><p>New Business</p><p>A representative from Gianni’s out of Baltimore made a presentation and shared frozen pizzas, cheesecakes, and other goodies. They also sell Auntie Anne’s pretzels, cakes, David’s cookie pre-scooped cookie dough, and strombolis. They can box cheesecake and pretzel orders together, if requested. Pizzas are separate. Ingredient information and allergy information are on the website. Turn around for orders is one week.
