<p>B. M. Palmer: Southern preacher in New Orleans, and one of the leading Presbyterians of the South.</p><p>Main points: 1. Slavery is a matter of self-preservation for the South. Without slavery, the South can not function. 2. It is the South's duty to be the guardians and protect the slaves. Slaves can not live without the whites there to protect them, so freedom would be the worst thing for the slaves. 3. Palmer feels that the South owes it to the world to protect slavery, because the South supplies the world with a lot of cotton and other agriculture. 4. The Abolitionists are atheists, according to Palmer.</p><p>Rabbi M.J. Raphall:</p><p>Main points: 1. Only Pastor to use actual quotes from the Bible in his sermon. 2. Condemns the North for denouncing the South for slavery on religious grounds, because the Bible allows for slavery. 3. Uses many examples from the Bible to back his sermon.</p><p>Reverend Henry Ward Beecher:</p><p>Main points: 1. The sins of the South are also the sins of the North. (Meaning the North will be judged along with the South for the South's sins.) 2. Displays the racism in the North with comments concerning Mexicans and Indians. 3. The South is greedy and only loves money.</p>
