However, based on the success of a pilot dove hunt at Barr Lake through Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Hunter Outreach Program, staff decided to expand dove hunting opportunity to the general public. Dove hunting will only be allowed on September 1st (opening day of dove season) as well as Sundays and Mondays during the month of September. Dove hunting will also be restricted to several hunting areas that can be reserved through the reservation system. Dove hunting on a limited basis during these days will help prevent conflicts with other non-hunting users of the park. Dove hunts will also be completed by October to prevent conflicts and competition with waterfowl hunters since both activities will take place in the same general area of the state park.

The statements of basis and purpose for these regulations can be viewed and copies obtained from the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife, Office of the Regulations Manager, Policy and Planning Unit, 1313 Sherman, Room 111, Denver, CO 80203.

The primary statutory authority for these regulations can be found in § 24-4-103, C.R.S., and the state Parks Act, §§ 33-10-101 to 33-33-113, C.R.S., and specifically including, but not limited to: §§ 33-10-106, C.R.S.

EFFECTIVE DATE - THESE REGULATIONS SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 AND SHALL REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT UNTIL REPEALED, AMENDED OR SUPERSEDED.

APPROVED AND ADOPTED BY THE PARKS AND WILDLIFE COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF COLORADO THIS 9th DAY OF JULY, 2015.
