<p> American History II Spring 2015 – Coach S. Beuter (Doby) [email protected]</p><p>You will need a three ringed binder just for this class, paper and a pen or pencil. If you keep all of your class materials in one binder, that will be fine. You are also expected to bring your Chromebook/device to class with you each day.</p><p>You will have an assigned seat. At the beginning of class you should have your materials ready at your desk. Each day I will write on the board the work that we will be doing in class. You are responsible for returning materials and your desk to the appropriate place and cleaning up after yourself at the end of each class. </p><p>Course Description: American History II is the history of the United States from the Reconstruction through the Modern Day. The course focuses on the geographical, intellectual, political, economic and cultural development of the American people, and places U.S. events in the context of world politics. Hopefully, you will find the ideas and concepts presented in the course relevant to you and your experiences in the twenty-first century.</p><p>Classroom Policies and Procedures: 1. First and foremost, students are to obey all policies and procedures laid out by the school and the board of education. 2. Tardy Policy Students who are tardy will be required to go to the PASS room and get a tardy slip before they can return to class. 3. Absence Policy 1. If at all possible, students are to notify teacher of an absence ahead of time. 2. It is the student's responsibility to come see me or a classmate when they miss days of classroom instruction and assignments. 3. All assignments from a missed day will be due no later than three school days after the missed class. (Ex: Absence on Mon., work will be due no later than Thurs. Absence on Thurs., work due no later than following Tues.) 4. If a student misses a day of class immediately prior to a test, they will be given an optional two day grace period to take the test their first, second, or third day back from school after the absence. (Ex: Absence on Mon. [test day], student can take the test on Tues., Wed., or Thurs., but not after Thurs.) 4. Cell Phones and all other electronic devices (iPods, etc.) must be turned off and placed out of sight. All devices being used without teacher permission will be taken and held until the end of the school day. 5. Each day an assignment is late, it will lose one letter grade. 6. Students are to be respectful of their teacher and any substitute. 7. Students are to be respectful of their fellow classmates' opinions, property, feelings, and personal space. 8. General misbehavior and classroom disruptions will result in: 1. Detentions 2. Calls home 3. Conferences with the principal or another administrator. 9. Academic Misconduct: Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated. If caught cheating or plagiarizing, the matter will be addressed according to the disciplinary policies stated in your student handbook.</p><p>Grades: (point system) 1. Bellwork/Classwork 2. Homework 3. Unit Tests (double weighted) 4. Cumulative Tests (double weighted)</p><p>Each TERM (9 weeks) is separate. Your final semester grade will have included in it your Final Exam if student is not exempt.
